As usual, I find the road-biased GT3 way more desirable than the GT3RS.

I’m not upset that it exists, but I am not entirely sure who It is intended to appeal to?

Agree with Mik, just feels like it's strayed a ridiculously long way from the original GT3RS.

Console yourself with the fact that Porsche wouldn't allow plebs like us to buy one even if we did have the cash Duncs. I said this about the regular GT3 as well but it's too much now. Unlike older GT3s which were 911's with some minor inconveniences for great gains, these new ones seem like you'd spend most of the time being miserable/frustrated with it for the odd occasion when you could let it loose.

As always, If I had £180k to spend on cars I'd buy 15 to 20 knackered old rust buckets before I bought a brand new supercar

Any fast road car is the same. Even in my Elise you cant get anywhere close to using the full capability of the chassis on the road. Speeds are just too high.

The Elise is still relatively comfortable to bumble around at moderate speeds in though. IIRC the regular GT3 was reported as already quite stiff and uncompromising as a road car. I imagine the RS will be more so. It's seems like the GT cars are losing their USP in the name of going ever faster, just imo though obvs.

Whenever I think about these types of cars and how much they cost, I just can't see how I would ever enjoy them. You have to have astronomical amounts of money to have the confidence to exploit and enjoy them, otherwise, how could you not live in fear of damaging it? I'd never want to take it anywhere near a track day, if I had used my savings or had it on finance. As Jay-Z said, if you can't afford to buy it twice, you can't afford it.

The suspension needs to be stiff enough to control the weight of the car as it goes into a compression, plus the 800+ kg of downforce it could be generating at the same time….. it’s going to be stiiiiff

I was on the cusp of wholeheartedly agreeing with you, but then decided I'd be better off spending that £180k buying a barn/workshop for the knackered old rust buckets I already own

The number of buyers who can afford one of these, and will use them, must be tiny. The rest will be traded as investments. I just can't get excited about cars in that market.

There were a lot of people brought their supercars to the MM trackday at silverstone...Then proceeded to bumble round the track slowly. Conversely i took the opportunity to fully rinse the Club Racer as per Lotus intended

Apart from Sir Chris Hoy...Who was fully spanking his GT3RS. He passed me and i had nothing in response. The RS just fucked off.

Bugger! We went to the Cotswolds for a long weekend in our GTS 4.0, and I just realised we forgot the milk. We based our weekend around 'Supercar Saturday' and 'Classic Sunday' in Broadway, highly recommended for a short break.

991 GT3 Touring for me please, and I don't do trackdays.

I’d love a 996 gt3 / rs, I think they’d be great on the sort of roads I thrash around on but really wouldn’t want to try it in anything much bigger.

It’s weird that on paper they’ll tell you 911s haven’t grown that much, but in real life the newer ones do indeed seem huge, while 996s look small and neat.
