There was another “barn find” Capri 2.8i on twatter the other day - can’t find it - was actually owned from new with something like 385miles on the clock.

Car crime.

Looks like it’s the same car. Stoopid mileage.

(Apparently there were 68miles on the clock when he collected the car, so he’s averaged around 14 miles per year since then).

I suppose it's quite likely he had other cars to tool about in (perhaps another Capri) - there's a chap in that thread who has a low, low mileage M4 because he likes having a 'new car' around but he also has an E46 M3 that he actually drives so I suppose it takes all sorts.

I'll grant you, it's not the sort of thing I could do. Seems like it'd be a waste of money right up until the point where it appreciates past it's original value....twenty or thirty years later.

It's the only time I've got the look of the smarmy used car salesman correct in my head. Another comedy classic price from KGF classic cars. I wonder if they sell much or just have them on sale or return type deals?

Ignoring the offence of not driving something for so long, is it actually a good return compared to investing?

I expected 6 figures when I saw the original post about him selling to KGF. The only comedy is the randomness of the price; why not £69,995 or £75,000?

I'm impressed, but even more so with the mileage not increasing at all. Did he trailer it to the MOT centre or did the MOT man do home visits or what?

Outside of UK Ford fanboys that car can’t be worth more than £25k. £70k would buy something far prettier to sit and look at in the garage.

Mint car tho and there wont be any others like it. Worth the money long term.

Does nothing at all for me, there are a lot of other cars I’d have to already own before that became desirable in any way. Pointless museum piece which you couldn’t drive if you wanted to without destroying the value.

Wonder if whistling diesel can come over and thrash it around some council estates until the tyres pop

I wonder how much value a car previously owned by a celebrity actually adds in reality. A car owned by a car guy - James Dean, Paul Newman etc sure but previously owned some random actor, pop star or telly person ??

Princess Diana is an exception I suppose but a rich Princess Di fan would prefer a dress of hers or jewellery and a Ford person wont' want to pay the premium?

That's a nice looking Escort, would much rather that than the Capri.

Its not like it belonged to a famous racing driver or was a car that was raced. I remember looking at a 996 Turbo earlier in the year that was specced & owned from new by Richard Burns, but it was priced like any other similar car because, other than it being a "cool story", there's no real heritage attached to it.

At least with it being owned by "... the late Diana, Princess of Wales", at least you know which one it is. Not like the Seinfeld episode where George buys Jon Voight's car and then needs to prove it was the Jon Voight and not just some random.
