Well that didn't take long! Got a nip through today for doing 81 on the motorway, so as there's no speed awareness course option in Scotland I guess that will be 3 points and a £100 please?

I did a quick check and the government supported speed awareness courses and were looking to get them in place… this was 6 years ago…

Speed and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our police that they may take our points, but we’ll never take their speed awareness course!!!

(even if we want to)

I've signed the form and sent it back... and while on the way back from the post office tried my best not to mutter about all the people speeding in 20 and 30 zones without any repercussion! Grumpy old man!

How depressing is that, 81 on a motorway. It's nothing in a modern car/bike.Think of the kids etc.

I did the course yesterday after doing 25 in a 20.
Nearly fell asleep after the first hour (took it online) - the ‘instructor’ called me out on it and warned me!

Eleven of us on the course. It always amazes me how little ‘road craft’ knowledge other drivers have.

Cruel fortune; first lucky to have a clear enough motorway to do 81, then punished for it :(

As expected, 3 points and a £100 fine.

Argh bummer. I didn’t realise Scotland didn’t offer a SAC and I remember seeing more camera vans in there in a week than I see in England in a year!

Very annoying, we seem so backward up here in many ways (no smart comments please). Remember those heady days where we were looking forward to an 80mph speed limit on the motorways?

I got caught for 82 on the M40 but thankfully, got offered a SAC for it. I've had 3 SAC's over the years

I've been caught speeding 4 times but only got points the first time:

34 in a 30 - 3 Points Milton Keynes
34 in a 30 - SAC Beconsfield
82 in a 70 - SAC M40
68 in a 60 - SAC Dual Carriage Way near Portsmouth

There's no logic to it really...

That's nuts!

Although what's even crazier is that I can only pay the fine by cheque/postal order unless I attend a sheriff court where they can accept a debit/credit card.

WTAF Scotland???

A bit unlucky but definitely the reason I rarely go above an indicated 77-78 on mways these days, 'real' speed 73-ish.
