What is the best way to deal with a car that has outstanding finance?

An HPI check has shown that my car has outstanding finance from when it was sold new, in 2011. Obviously, I need to get this cleared up.

Has anyone had any experience of this in the past? I've got the details of the financial services company who provided it.

Seller pays it off while in front of you and you've sent them the coin to buy the skoda?

Contact the finance company as it's likely to be error. Even if it's not as a private buyer buying in good faith they aren't going repossess it as they will pursue the borrower.
