Priced up two weeks in the sun. £££eek.
Now thinking about camping.
Camping = stuff
Stuff = trailer*
Trailer = tow bar

What do I need to know?

*the correct evo/ov9 answer is to buy a new Defender 110 or a @Sundayjumper spec Vito, but it’ll be slightly cheaper to get a tow bar on the Yeti and put stuff in a trailer, as well as use the roof box.

Trailer wise, Maypole MP6815 SY150 / Erde 143 seems to be a popular one.

Tow bar wise, I’ve had a helpful email back from a firm in Horndean - lots of options…

Sounds like a lot of expense! How much is 2 weeks £eek? We hire apartments now, works out loads cheaper than hotel package deals.

Camping as in a tent? How many of you are there? Depending how remote you go, you might not have to take that much extra "stuff"?

We’ve just had one family move their July booking to next year (this will still be ££ as it is peak, but I can do about 20% off the advertised rate), otherwise the price halves after 3rd September when most kids have gone back.

Tow bar - I bought an Umbra tow bar for the Vito, a brand I’d not heard of before but it’s good quality and was a great price. Fitting shouldn’t be rocket science.

Trailer - I have a small trailer you can borrow if you want, to avoid buying & storing one for evermore.

It was nice down there last week - (clearly I can’t guarantee the weather!)

I get the feeling this is all just an excuse to buy a trailer tbh, sometimes a man needs a trailer.

How much crap are you thinking of taking? Get a roof box k off Facebook marketplace for £50 and take less stuff.

It’s all reliant on tent size, we have a big tent so that sits on a tray mounted to the tow bar.

If we didn’t have the dogs then it would be more than enough for this alone and not need a roofbox.

That's what I was wondering! But like @ZedLeg says, sometimes you just need to justify buying a trailer.

Quite clearly what you need is a BMW X5 with the factory fitted tow kit that extends towing capacity to 3500kg

I've been toying with the idea of a trailer for camping stuff (and a towbar). Problem is I've nowhere to store it.

It’s a very good product and the price compared to Thule etc is very very good. I’ve had 80kg ish on mine with tent and a few other bits and it’s fine, plus you can still drive at normal high speeds.

If you buy a trailer it needs to fit a 4x8 minimum, otherwise you're DIW. That's 1.2x2.4m for the easily confused.
