No. Cos they are more vulnerable. So they can pass as close as they like to a car, but the car must then give them 1.5m space if it re-passes.

Cyclists probably fail to remember the tip about giving lots of space to avoid dooring. Oh, let's have an amusing video (not sarcasm - cyclists don't help themselves either):

It's actually a very prescient reminder, becuase that sharp edge of the door is a very concentrated surface area for a cyclist to use as a brake with their face must result in some pretty nasty injuries.

A slight aside, with all the features like speed limit recognition legislated now it's stupid that doors don't have to have illumination when they're open. A light at, say, door handle height would work wonders in many situations at night though obvs. wouldn't help with people throwing doors open without looking. There's plenty of mood lighting about, adding strips to the door shut edge of the door trim panel wouldn't be the most difficult job in the world.

I think it was Beany that highlighted that X doesn’t allow embedding - whereas legacy twitter did. Hence adjusting the address allows it to be visible rather than a link.

X does allow embedding, but it doesn't redirect cleanly so phpBB might not be able to embed it.

Still, as long as Twitter are getting request to twitter.com they can't close that URL down, so it'll never disappear, which will annoy the piss out of someone there, so it's fine by me.

Id say thats a 50/50. Driver should have looked and cyclist shouldn't have been on the wrong side of the road.

Do motorcyclists always stay in the same lane when filtering? I don't think there needs to be a distinction. Perfectly feasible for an emergency vehicle to have been coming down there instead of a cyclist; the driver clearly didn't look right at all before smartly pulling away and thus it's the driver pulling out of the side road's fault.

FWIW I am around 60% driver fault (you gotta look), and 40% cyclist fault (for placing themselves in such a ridiculous road position).

I expect to see motorcyclists or cyclists filtering on my left, or in between between two (or more) lanes of traffic going in the same direction. I'm less "comfortable" seeing motorcyclists or cyclists coming past on the right, as (unlike an overtake) it's often done when there is traffic coming the other way and it feels like a (generally) unnecessary risk to place yourself into the oncoming lane like that. Not that I am massively impacted whilst sat in my car of course, it's just something I'd try and avoid when cycling. I would not consider it normal practice for a motorcyclists or cyclist to be filtering by placing themselves on the opposite side of the adjacent lane intended for travel in the opposing direction. That seems pretty stoopid to me.

I accept Jobbo's point that an emergency vehicle could have been coming down, but - in recognition of the risk - I am fully confident that they would be doing so only with blue lights and sirens on.
