I’ve only recently forgiven my mum for making me finish a box of some Crunchy Nut Cornflake clone 30+ years ago.

At the weekend we suffered a shopping faux pas where a box of Lidl Rice Snaps (in no way attempting to emulate Kellogg’s Rice Krispies packaging) was purchasified.

I hate wasting food so gave them a go.

You know when you get crap popcorn and 1% of the kernels haven’t popped and break your teeth? Yeah that.

I think the dogs might get the rest of the pack…

In a moment of madness I bought Aldi's version of Weetabix, I'd struggle to tell them apart if blindfolded so not all bad.

As ever, some are good, some are awful. Sainsbury's Weetabix for example is bloody awful - like they've used the sweepings from the factory floor. Turns to mush immediately. Waitrose version though - best of all and better than Weetabix itself. Waitrose cornflakes are fairly decent as well as they stay crunchy. My boy doesn't like their coco pops though - I do, more chocolatey and less soggy.

I've had the Lidl version of Jordans Crunch before and that was alright as well actually.

No Scots oats Mik?

I actually prefer some of the Aldi cereals to the kellogs variety. Their peanut crunch is infinitely better than the crunchy nut equivalent.

Lidl's fruit and fibre - five thumbs up.

Aldi's version - absolute shite for about the same money.

Sometimes they get them right, sometimes they don't.

Why would anyone voluntarily eat Weetabix? It is an affront to food.

Starts out dry, dusty and without flavour, then turns to flavourless textureless mush, then if left out sets harder than concrete.

I've become a bit partial to M&S Maple and Pecan cereal recently. Probably pretty unhealthy though. Also, their own Blueberry Wheat variant is fine.

In terms of clones, we recently discovered Aldi's Seal Bars, Penguin clone

On the subject of cereal it’s the portion sizes I struggle with, if you follow the recommendations it’s a case of where’s the rest, if you have anything more it becomes high calorie without any long term filling effect

Yes I thought the old F1 logo was much more clever for that reason.
My other favourite hidden one is the Toblerone bear in the mountain.

2 weetabix this morning and I'm only just getting peckish now. Weetabix is the best imo for being the most filling/longlasting.

Maybe the same biscuits. Aldi Snackrite Hoops are Hula Hoops, we've had Hula Hoops in an Aldi multi pack

Granola and Greek Yog or Porridge. Kids seem to find Aldi's own brand cereals fine as are a lot of their own brand products.

Cheese omelette with a side of bacon or American pancakes.

This talk of cereal is disturbing.

I quite like Special K so I have that from time to time. Usually granola or muesli though.

I love cereal - I have it every day. My current combination is a bowl of raisin wheats, shreddies and special K.

I could happily eat cereal for dinner too...
