I'm in to the final year of the 240 pcp so im starting to look at replacements. No rush at the moment so just browsing at the moment.

Myself and Mrs A are now both WFH so both normal cars are basically sat at the house most of the time.

I've been toying with chopping both cars and getting another newer estate car.

We seen one of these at the weekend when we were out and it looked pretty decent.

bit of research and watched a couple for youtubes and they seem to get fairly positive reviews. Carwow did a GPS 0-60 and clocked it at 4.3 secs. Which is pretty rapid. its got the 2.0TSI Golf R DSG running gear and has dynamic dampers.

Lease deals land it about the same as what im paying for the 240.

Haven't seen one yet but might go for a nosey after work.

Tell me I'm DIR and i should be buying X instead

I saw a new G42 m240i parked next to a F22 CS (with gold wheels and breaks - very cool). Its looks a lot better in the flesh than the magazine shots suggest. Im tempted myself, especially in thundernight.

Landlord of local has one. He likes it. They do seem to sit high but thats not an issue if you dont want a sports car.

If its like a golf r tho it wont be very exciting.

Certainly a bit fancier than a Golf R / S3 / T-Roc R / Tiguan R / Leon 300 / Cupra Ateca / (are there any others?)

I like the look of the Formentor but I imagine the interior will be a bit of a let down after a Golf. And if you didn't actually like the Golf R much, is it the right choice?

New 2-series looks good to me.

Do they do a T8 XC40?

I think the XC60 is 400+hp in T8 form so a XC40 would be quick, nice interior too.

2 Series cant get two dogs in the boot. I quite liked my Golf R - I only sold it as I ruined it by foolishly not fitting an OEM steering rack.

Went for a look last night. They had a 310 in the showroom but it was sold. we got a nosey around inside it but couldnt drive it.

Interior - Seat interiors have always been a bit shit in comparison to quality of the VW equivalent. However i was impressed to see that the interior was actually pretty decent. I would say that from a quality perspective it was on par with my 2 series. Really comfortable seats with loads of adjustment. Interior plastics and trim were of pretty good quality and the leather felt decent. switchgear was all common solid VAG stuff. Big screen seemed ok. Everything in menu's though but most of the main driving functions are on actual buttons on the steering wheel so you didn't have to search through the infotainment to change a track or turn the volume down.

Kit wise it comes with pretty much every option you could think of. Radar Cruise, heated memory seats & Steering wheel, Carplay ect.

Driving - Got to drive the base spec 1.5 TSi 150. drove pretty well. Cornered very flat but still rode ok. The 310 has dynamic dampers that the 150 doesn't so id expect the ride to be a bit softer in full comfort. It's never going to be a sports car but it felt sharper than the X1 I had as a courtesy car a while back. for only having 150 bhp it seemed to go well enough.

I was quite impressed. It would do the one car fits all and dogs job quite well.

Lease deals seem reasonable £410 pcm plus 6 months down for 8k over 48 months.

PCP at around £450 pcm for the same mileage with £4k in - Which is around the equity i have in the 2 series.

Need to have a think.

240 is sold. Nothing to replace it currently. Still not decided what I want to do with it. We will run the 3 series for a bit and see if the one daily is a workable solution with the Elise on backup.
