Why on earth would you put it into the lock up that way?

Weird eh - the door is at the side with least space. :?
Edit: actually no - I think that’s why they have put it in nose-first - more access to the left side of the van?

And I’d never considered garaging a caravan before…. Although I now realise that was one of the sales pitches associated with the “compact” range. (I always assumed the USP centred on the reduced aerodynamic drag?).

It looks like a council block of garages so it might've been someone without a drive or something.

Couldn't imagine getting excited about an old caravan tbh, but I suppose people think that about me and my thing with Volvos

One of my first memories of family caravan holidays, was in a Sprite. Being towed by a wheezy 2.25 Landie 90.

I like a classic airstream but that's about as far as my interest goes on these...

I will admit that an airbagged shitbox 80s estate and matching shitbox 80s caravan does appeal now that I think about it.

Because they access the garage from a door at the rear, which probably backs onto their garden (see the angle and position of the second photo), therefore putting the hitch at the rear end of the garage allows for more space day-to-day when accessing their shelves and storage in the garage. Seeing how the caravan was only used once every century, creating accessible space at the 'business end' of the garage was clearly a greater priority than ease of hitching it on the single occasion it was actually used for it's intended purpose. Can't believe I've typed this whole explanation about how someone else uses their fucking garage. FML.

A design which so massively erodes the benefits of a caravan compared to a tent in regards to weatherproofing, noise, insulation, security, convenience, etc etc. I am amazed they sold any.

Unless you are struggling with weight due to small tow car they are a bizarre concept as is the modern day "Folding Camper" , my mate spent best part of £20k on one as he didn't want to pull a Caravan

The plate on the van relates to a jellymould Granada 2.0.

Library image. Actual car may well have been brown?

Sprites were always the ginger stepchild of the caravan world when I was forced to go on caravanning holidays as a kid 😁

I checked that too :D And it is (was) green.

The Granada was registered in Dec 1990, so would have been almost brand new for a 1991 caravanning holiday. Fancy.
