Sounds like an MX5 and a shower cap.

Or stretch your budget and haggle/ https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... obcid=soc4

Yeah, everything seems to point MX=5. I’ve been told early Z4s are pretty unreliable.

I’d been looking for one for a while but they were all down south, I’ve just looked again and there is a low miles 2005 plate with leather interior for sale 4 miles away! It’s a sign.

If it hasn't had the necessary close cat delete done, take the opportunity to add a turbo ;)

FWIW my 2003 3.0 was ok. It had a faulty crank sensor at about 60k (done under warranty, think it was about £500). Can’t remember any issues other than that.

My Dad has a MK3 in black with red leather. It's a brilliant little car. Get it bought!!

I'd go for a mk3 (NC) mx5. I've had a couple and to be honest I enjoyed the boggo 1.8 just as much as the supercharged 2.0

I've also had a z4 too and the only common problem I remember was the motor for the electric roof fails. Mine had been replaced before I bought the car and it wasn't a cheap job.

If an inspection checks out - go for the Boxster, keep if for a few years then sell it for a small profit. Inexplicably and despite them being relatively common, Boxster prices are on the rise.

Something a little different?

Clicky piccy.

£3,500 and the most fun I've had in a car for a long time when Mr SA Jobson of this parish let me have a go in his. Also, it would look hilarious with a St Bernard in the back.

You mean slammed at the rear? I have thought about a cheap 4wd but because of the geography round here they don’t exist.
