Shamelessly stollen from the other thread! 512M was pretty terrible.

Yep, most stuff where they've removed pop up headlights look worse.

Most of the late 80s - early/mid 90s french hatchback facelifts look worse with hindsight to me. Renaults, Peugeots, etc.. even though at the time they looked better. R19, Peugeot 106/306, etc

Yes, Diablo when they gave it lights from the 300ZX I believe.

Agree with that totally. At the time a lot of facelifts look better but then with age and looking back it’s usually the original design which is the purest and most desirable.

Lots seem to add fuss just for the sake of it and don’t really add anything other than being different.

In terms of making a car vanish, the fiat multipla and Citroen cactus have to be up there, they both removed the quirky stuff and went mainstream and then disappeared into mediocrity

The later looks like a US spec car though

The Non-US wasn’t any prettier though.

It still riles me that the only Countach I have ever seen out in the wild was a (current model at the time) Anniversary..

Diablo, 3000GT, Xsara, Xantia, 406 and mk1 Laguna are the worst that immediately come to mind.

The Xsara was particularly gopping after being facelifted.

Fiat Barchetta - turned one of the prettiest cars into one that's quite ugly

Just some I see in London all the time:

This one is more personal, I prefer light clusters which make use of fine LEDs rather than ones which use fewer but make them more chunky. The latter looks cheaper and the stupid big squares ruined the entire car for me.

Don't know why they felt a facelift was needed for the R230:

I didn’t know they ever face lifted the Barchetta.

Christ, that looks so similar to, but not entirely like, a Barchetta that it could be one of those early 2010's design knock offs that chinese automakers used to do (I mean, some still do, but not as much as they did)

That's genuinely quite, quite bad. There is a certain efficiency to how little they changed, and how much they utterly ruined it, though which is kinda admirable.

I wouldn’t really call the original one of the prettiest cars but the facelift is terrible.

I think it's the front air dam treatment that's the killer; on the original car, it's got a boat-like quality (hence the name i guess) and it makes the front look light and delicate.

The facelift, it looks like someone just slapped the first thing in the parts bin on it, shaved it back and gave up, leaving it look horribly front-heavy.

(I think the Barchetta works better from some angles than others, but it's a pretty wee thing in the metal)

The rear end was spoilt too with a silly shark fin 3rd brake light in the boot.

Actually, fiat are quite good at bad facelifts. The multipla has already been mentioned, but they also changed the sharp, edgy Mk2 punto from this

To this

And it’s replacement didn’t escape
This

Got a pointless facelift with a silly bit of trim to this

Which then got another facelift to make it look almost the same as it started
