JWST Launches Today

Been waiting for this for a long time. I suspect it's going to change the worlds of physics and astronomy forever, but it might just change the world full stop in the end.

Let's just hope after 30 years and $10 billion of work it doesn't explode on launch! :lol:

I’ve never been all that interested in space travel but that is mental. The engineering and technology to make something go that speed for such a prolonged time!

Just needs application of energy once you’ve escaped the atmosphere - there’s no friction.

Glad they got the sunshade up, there were a couple of delays and that had me nervous, and looks like a complicated bugger. Just the mirrors to go then I think and it's ready for commissioning.
