Well coil springs rules out pretty much anything yankee I would've thought.

I'm a bit stumped though as most European stuff didn't come with v8s back in the 60/70s (not convertibles anyway) unless you've really splashed out on something high end or esoteric.

The mystery car was fitted with coil springs from new. No conversion shenanigans going on here.

No, but that's a very good guess as it is, in some ways, very much along those lines. Rolls Royce is even named as a comparison in some of <mystery car's> advertising.

1966 Ford Galaxie Convertible, 390ci (6.4 litre) engine. Quite rare in that it's RHD. A special order from new built in Canada
