Petrol the new toilet roll
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Did you manage to horde fuel by filling all your cars’ tanks?Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 4:01 pmAnd I had to go away and check the Galaxie. It’s 25 US gallons, about 95 litres. Which doesn’t seem all that much for the size & thirst of the thing.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:08 pmThe Scimitar’s tank is 21.3 gallons - that’s a sniff short of 97 litres
I took my Jimny down to Flewy after not using it for a few months. Was so pleased to find I’d left it with a full tank of petrol

And let's watch petrol prices not follow that trend....

It's a shame a lot of our local filling stations haven't figured out yet that they need to up the payment limit. I filled up the Superb last week and it stopped pumping at £99.

Seems like this is a problem again, at least in south Birmingham and north Worcestershire.
Local Esso has unleaded and super but no diesel.

No diesel in Tewkesbury this morning - I filled up at the services on the north side of Evesham on the A46.

Yep, loads of places out around here but haven’t seen any panicking or queues. What’s causing it this time?

No diesel or E10 at Tesco in Handforth this lunchtime. Thankfully I only require the good stuff that was available. Not bad price either compared to recently - I think it was about the £1.60 mark - I wasn't really paying attention.
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Looks like everything is drying up round this way. My local place has been expecting a delivery for a couple of days and have been getting blanked by their supplier.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
Apparently it is due to protestorists blockading fuel depots. Interesting that the news has been quiet on it, presumably to try and damp down panic buying. South and Scotland seem to be worst affected.

It's weird as I've done a lot of mileage this week traveling allover the country and haven't seen anywhere out of fuel.

Cambridge is bonkers for petrol today apparently, presumably because it is full of easily frightened people. I’m up North right now and having zero problems.
I presume it’s pretty localised.

Cambridge to drive is a crap hole and diesel prices are 10p a litre more there than they were in Peterbosnia last week.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 8:33 pm Cambridge is bonkers for petrol today apparently, presumably because it is full of easily frightened people. Don’t get me started. As Rupert Brooke wrote in his famous poem “The Old Vicarage, Grantchester”V8Granite wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 9:08 pmCambridge to drive is a crap hole and diesel prices are 10p a litre more there than they were in Peterbosnia last week.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 8:33 pm Cambridge is bonkers for petrol today apparently, presumably because it is full of easily frightened people. Say, stand the bollards yet in rows
Mute guardians of the contraflows?
Are there stabbings after dark
And is it still a bitch to park?

It’s been rubbish around here for over a week. No diesel anywhere, shell totally out, Tesco has only got e5 and only at some pumps.
Haven’t seen any panic buying or queues, just pumps running dry.

Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
The big Tesco & Sainsbury's near here were both out of diesel today. Sainsbury's had a huge queue for petrol. Normal Shell station in Sandhurst (that's always a couple of pence more per litre) had everything available and no queue. The extra £2 on a full tank seemed OK compared to not having anything at all.
Re: Petrol the new toilet roll
After a couple of weeks religiously checking PetrolPrices.com, now I just fill up if there’s fuel available and don’t care about a few pence per litre.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 10:55 pm The extra £2 on a full tank seemed OK compared to not having anything at all.
Have you ever calculated how much it would cost to fill all your cars from empty?
