My current one is crap. No torque to it, battery doesn't last. Please help me spend money.
Main uses - wheel nuts, tough cleaning jobs with brush attachments, screwdrivering, maybe even some drilling!
I currently don't have any other cordless tools but if there's a make that uses the same batteries in a cordless trimmer, hedge trimmer or other such thing then so much the better.

You need an impact driver for wheel nuts; not quite the same as a drill.

DeWalt here. It’s noticeable the impact driver needs a freshly charged battery to achieve *full* torque but it’ll happily do plenty of sets of wheels between charges.

You need a drill and impact driver.
A regular 1/4 driver that you use for screws won’t undo wheels.

So you need a drill.
A 1/4 driver.
And a 1/2 or 3/4 impact gun.

I bought that drill earlier this year. It’s fab.

Also got the impact driver very recently as I was fed up swapping between drill and screwdriver bits - but I went for the slightly more powerful version than the one offered in that combo (which probably would have been adequate but - wot evah)

These aren’t for wheel nuts - for that you want an impact wrench with a 1/2” square drive or 3/4” and a good chunk more weight and power. The impact drivers are the ones with a hex for screwdriver bits.

I use Ryobi, loads of different tools and all use same battery.

Looking at this pairing - three tools, two x 2A batteries + charger or this pairing - two tools (same impact wrench, more powerful combi drill, also brushless), two x 5A batteries + charger (+ box, not shown) then maybe get one of these later when it's on a deal

That impact wrench is the same one @scotta bought a while back. It is serious, but also therefore reassuringly big and heavy. And it is recommended that you don’t try to run it on a small Ah battery. 4Ah + is really needed.

As a drill, I bought an 18v DeWalt at the recommendation of mates what use them for work. I was told go over 3Mah for battery life. I have been massively impressed, so much more powerful than the wee Makita I had and battery life is phenomenal.

I would assume their impact gun would be similarly decent.

One word of warning - although more is obviously better, these super powerful ones will just break stuff if you’re not careful with them.

Impact wrench arrived. Have a swithered over getting one for years so I look forward to being annoyed I didn’t do so earlier.

It’s great to have a drill now that isn’t shot too.

BUT.- these interchangeable batteries force you to appear like a fanboi. DEWALT FTW!

Off yes. For 'On' use a torque wrench and do the job properly.

A quick blip (literally just a blip) with the impact wrench to spin the bolts into place then finish off with a torque wrench.

Nah, slap a torque stick on that fucker and mash the trigger until sparks come out.

If you’re buying into a battery system, an angle grinder and recip saw are wonderful things to have. I barely ever bother using my mains powered tools these days.
