Matt, is it possible to turn off embedding per site? It's quite useful to see Twitter posts and Youtube videos but I really don't want to see Instagram posts. See discussion on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10308&start=7380

I am not particularly interested in any embedding, to be honest, but I can see the use for Youtube. Instagram, nah. What next, Tiktok?

Here's a more reasoned justification. I have blocked Katie Hopkins on Instagram so her posts don't show when I'm on the site or app. Where her posts are embedded here, I can still see them. So embedding is a way to circumvent perfectly legitimate user blocking of content. That shouldn't be possible.

I don’t think censorship of an entire social medium is required, nor indeed healthy. I didn’t read the post after seeing who it was by, but guess Jobbo’s legal mind can’t help but read all the detail.

Also, does an embedded post of something count as views? Surely only if you click on the link? Not that the 50 or so people only here would make a significant effect anyway.

To go back to the original question, it depends which plugin Matty is using. If he's using this one he can.

Ian, it doesn’t prevent linking - I just prefer the ability to choose whether to click it rather than having it forced upon me.
