Burglar scum

Post by DeskJockey »

Dad has been away for a few days and came back to a burgled house.

He'd had all doors and windows replaced with extra strengthened frames and locks after the burglary five years ago. The burglar had tried to break the lock and failed, so instead just smashed the window (triple glazing). Sadly he didn't cut himself on the glass.

All he got was a few hundred in cash (emptied the coin bowl) and a basic DSLR kit, because all the really valuable stuff was stolen last time. But he'd turned the house upside down and it all looked as you'd expect. Bloody scum.

That’s the worst of it, when we were burgled they turned the house upside down to steal a PlayStation and a laptop that were sitting in plain view. Left a couple of grand’s worth of music equipment too. Obviously didn’t know what they were looking at.

They’re arseholes.

Thanks all.

Apparently one of his neighbours had woken up in the night because she heard odd noises and scared someone away from her property. Described as dressed in black with a hoodie and mask. Sadly she didn't call the police to report it when it happened. I'm guessing he (assumption) walked on to the next house.

I hope so. He's quite low already not having seen us since January last year.

Hopefully my youngest sister's baby arriving any day will lift his spirits (she's still in Denmark).

That really sucks! We got burgled in London and I remember feeling "grateful" that they had taken stuff in plain view, riffled a drawer or two but essentially left everything as was. I would have happily seen them strung up as they had got in through a window and put the snib on so had to get a locksmith to get us in and fit new locks.

I hope the arrival of the baby cheers your Dad up, I know my parents were lifted y my daughter's birth.

That’s really shit. Any cctv in the area? Worth checking shops and car parks if there’s any nearby

Sadly not. It is a quiet residential area with tall hedges and/or fences.
