...when I move to England in 1997.

Today, that was 23 years, 6 months and 24 days ago. I have now lived over half my life in England. :)

This means, I'm Institutionalised... :lol:

I'm still Irish but don't have problems with alcohol and don't have "Smile on my face but still bitter" resentment towards "The English". :lol:

Time to get a Passport I think...

Clearly fine with it as you’ve been counting the days 😉.

I assume the walls of your house are covered in tally marks?

:lol: - I thought about it once about 5 or 6 years ago, worked it out and put a reminder in Outlook. I noticed it again a few weeks back.

Love it here, never going back, England's not perfect (nowhere is) but it's the best country in the world IMO (Unpopular opinion I know) :)

Christ, I think I be much the same for moving out of Scotland. I think I was 20 when I did that, and I'm 39 now.

I tried London for a few years but it wasn't for me. being called a "Scottish cvnt" regularly got a little wearing as well. TBF that was my work colleagues and "friends" :D

Aye - “Don’t tarmac my drive” was a common line from people in the early days. :lol:

But like just about every country on earth, London and England are very different, same as Dublin and Ireland, Sydney and Australia etc

I heard the title in Skinhéad's voice;

I'm a bit confused though; I thought the point of travelling to godforsaken shitholes was to realise that your own godforsaken shithole isn't actually that bad in the big scheme of godforsaken shitholes and there are worse places to be. Yet still you stayed :?

And if I'm going to sit on a plane for 24hours to get here damnit I'm going to get my money's worth!

To borrow a phrase from your country, Dinny I think I'd be fecking off back home to avoid the Brexit/Tory shitshow. Beginning to wish I'd moved to Sweden when I was thinking about it a few years ago.
