Quicker than an M2? Not possible!
Fact that I have an M2 is of course completely irrelevant.

That's the logical answer, though it could be a new M3 or M4?

I wont drag this out past its sell by date, a Z4 M40i

Its the same engine as the 540i which in a large-ish saloon was quick and economical, in a (lardy) 2 seater Im sure it will be even better.

I just haven't got on with the 740d its too slow, too diesel, too wide for most roads, gadgets are cool, but when I realised that it was un-depreciating when little cogs in my head whirred into action and some spectacular man maths came into play.

The biggest first world problem is that I have 2 similar cars with the z4 and the mx5 both smallish 2 seaters rwd softtops.

Its black with ivory seats and full spec with the exception of the 360 cameras. Not sure that I have seen one on the road, but it looks good in the flesh despite having a few marmite angles.

I was thinking about a boxster but the 718 is difficult to get hold of and has a 4 pot, the 981 doesn’t have the tech which is an important part of a decision (not evo but true) and bmw do have the edge when it comes to in car tech.

These do look good.

Not sure how they drive but plenty of oooomff

re tech I am enjoying not having any. Half the stuff in my last golf I never used. Maybe I'm just a simple old man

Nice!

I prefer the earlier versions, but making £10k in three months, you can’t argue with that! Great work!

I’ve no doubt the boxster or even the a110 would be a better drive about 7 or 8 tenths, all of the reviews comparing the Z4 to the 718 say it falls just short as a driving car. I haven’t seen a comparison to the 981.

I haven’t got the car yet, but the Litchfield power upgrades look tempting in terms of oooomff.

Even though I've seen a couple I forgot about the Z4
At £100/day, how tempting was it to wait a while longer?

At the time I picked up the 7, I ad an idea it was 5/6k cheaper that similar cars for sale and knew that I’d had a good deal.

I was also offered a good deal on a 71 reg c43, but there is a chance that the chip shortage would be resolved by then and the bubble burst.

Picked up the Z4 yesterday from Ascot, drove home across the cotswolds which was a great start and something I wouldn’t have bothered in the 740d which is designed to eat motorway miles.

Resisted sport mode and taking it easy for the first few hundred miles, but it feels nimble, nice mechanical noise that makes you feel like your in a car. Compared to the mx5, it feels huge.

A week into owning the z, it’s been valeted and ceramic coated and looks very very shiny.

I’m still running it in, I doubt I will do the full 1200 mile run in, maybe 500 miles. I’m resisting sport mode for now :|

Reviews criticised the steering which is heavy at low speeds but feels ok upto 7 10ths. Strangely, the first impression is that it feels more like a baby 5 series than a roadster. The engine is something special and I’m very tempted to tune it upto 500bhp.

The only downside is that the Mx5 has sat in the garage, I might need a trickle charger.
