Or you can prove your the manliest of all men and buy a VXR8 - and it's great you don't care if people question your sexual orientation
Sold it at 7yrs and 35k miles for exactly the same money.
They demand more money now.
Big simple LS3 - cheap to maintain (brakes can be pricey) but huge character.

Well I've learned 2 things about the XK that I didn't know before - it's a hatchback and the bonnet opens by tilting forwards. Does look very nice that one.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:12 amLike.... this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 5132577472
How about not having a sig at all?

But not really a daily driver!
I think if I was to get an Aston, it would be one of the newer Vantages, not that that could be considered a daily either...
Re: New car buying advice type thread
Alas no, but what seems even more unlikely is that there isn't a Cygnet* near your budget (start at £36k ), and that isn't the only V12 manuel cheaper than a Cygnet
*Easy to park
How about Foz 911?

That had crossed my mind. I am not sure a 911 (that would be in budget) is much less compromised as a daily driver than the Boxster is. The current generation of 911 perhaps but that ain’t gonna happen

Xk will be a brilliant day to day car, boots pretty decent for a coupe as well.
If you get one with the Hifi upgrade it's a noticeable improvement in sound quality.
Not sure what Nav your XF has but that XK you have linked to has a previous gen unit which is noticeably worse to use if that's of any concern.
Drive lovely though, handle like a slightly lighter XF, which is unsurprising really!

I'd totally forgotten that they had rear seats. Well, rear shopping bag holders at least.Mito Man wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:05 pmWell I've learned 2 things about the XK that I didn't know before - it's a hatchback and the bonnet opens by tilting forwards. You also want the post-2010 cars. They came with an all-important slippy diff, better springs and various other minor fixes.
Exhausts aside, they look great on the road. Supposed to be rock solid for reliability and you could get a 2 year, cast iron warranty from Lexus for £800....but cheaper than Merc who charged about £2500 for the same warranty on a C63.
Re: New car buying advice type thread
Is the XK smaller enough than an XF to make a difference parking?

4790mm v 4970mm so a fair bit shorter.

Funnily enough, while I should like Bentleys, they have never really done anything for me. While I've never driven one, they always seemed far too big and unweildy. There are loads about quite suspiciously cheap on autotrader if you go looking... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 6103684502nuttinnew wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 4:35 pm This wouldn't have helped with parking but was withing budget; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-56-BENT ... 7675.l2557

Re: New car buying advice type thread
Engine out for lots of repairs you wouldn't expect on those, easy enough with a ramp and engine table, but still 16 Hours labour at a dealer!
Re: New car buying advice type thread
Yep, the only way one combines XF and Boxster is in size and weight. Istr reading ages back that changing spark plugs was an engine out job; very much a case of if you couldn't afford one new...

Or should I just buy an F type on finance? That’s a thing, right? I wonder what they are like as a motorway cruiser.

A guy at my work has just got a new F-type, it's a 4 banger coupe, but still a great daily. Small inside though.
