I really don't think I've said anything controversial there!

Teams in the top half of the draw: Belgium (1), Portugal (5), Italy (7), Austria (23), France (2), Switzerland (13), Croatia (14) and Spain (6).

Teams in the bottom half of the draw: Sweden (18), Ukraine (24), England (4), Germany (12), Netherlands (16), Czech Republic (40), Wales (17), Denmark (10).

I've put the respective world rankings in there in case you're struggling.

It's quite interesting actually. Other side of the draw the average world ranking is 8.875, our side of the draw the average world ranking is 17.5.

Yeah. Pepe was pissed off afterwards

Surely saying it is a big 'if' is not controversial either?

Or are you saying it's a small 'if', ie. it's probable that we get past them? If so I admire your optimism.

England 4 and Germany 12, c'mon pull the other one. England are bang average and I'm mostly English (except a bit of Welsh on my Dads side), England will get humped by Germany.

England are worse than average, they're disappointing. Considering the calibre of player that they always have they should be near the top of the pile but they're never quite there.

Need to dictate the pace of a game at the Premiership pace, they are all used to it and fit enough to do it for 90 mins. They never do though, last time was probably the 5-1 against Germany and then before that the Netherlands in Euro 96.

I'm still totally apathetic to the whole thing but then again my club season was shite and the clusterfuck continues in the background.

Don't blame me for the rankings, blame FIFA. Those rankings are quite high because we seem to be quite good at beating minnows to qualify for tournaments. :-)

Everyone seems to have read my post as being overly optimistic, I'm just saying, there's never been a better opportunity to get to a final. I'm certainly not suggesting we'll do it.

Yeah, not sure why you keep banging on about controversy. My comment was me thinking your comment was rather optimistic given Ingerland's record against Germany. Cheers for the sarcasm and patronising comments though.

Maybe you don't know what 'if' means or the phrase 'a big if'? I don't see where you're finding optimism unless you think that England beating Germany is a complete impossibility, and therefore simply using the word 'if' is I suppose optimistic.

I would imagine even the most rabid England fan considers beating Germany less the a sinecure. Germany are surely considered your Bogie team so I am still struggling to understand your aggressive and sarcastic and rude response? "hmmmmmm" is hardly an attack on you or your comment or indeed your football team.

 Aggressive?

Of course everyone is aware that Germany are a good team even now, and we rarely do well against them. I didn't think I was making any comment as to the likelihood of beating them, certainly not suggesting it was a high chance.

Germany have been slighly less than they're usual stellar selves over the past 2 years but being Germany , Slighly Less means a few more draws than expected.

They've drawn with Denmark, Switzerland (twice) and sides like Spain and Argentina. But they were also beaten by Spain (Battered 6:0), the Netherlands ( well beaten 4:2) and North Macedonia.

However, they're still a very dangerous side and especially in the knock out stages of tournaments. I suspect they will have to Not Turn Up and England will have to step up a gear to two to get a result.

And as for England, for the life of me, I can understand why they are being so pedestrian. When they try to play the possession based game, passing it around, back to Midfield, back to Pickford, they look blunt and weak. They are not Spain Circa 2010 etc.

But run at defences - like Grelish and Saka do and I think there's a chance. But will Southgate to that route ?

Must be all those bankers. :-)

Hard to call a winner in this tournament now. I'd have expected Belgium to be favourites now, but they're way down the pecking order this morning. Not bad value at 7-1 I'd say, but they have to get past Italy potentially without KdB.
