120,000 stolen bitcoin recovered in US. Stolen in 2016 when worth $71m, now worth $5 billion. Wonder if it will affect prices
They clearly bought enough coke with their winnings to think that pursuing a rap career was a good idea

In ACTUAL CASH or in exchange for other crypto with "value equivalent to" $<x> ? I'd imagine there's a pretty big difference.

Mostly nicked from further down that thread:

Story synopsis: extremely unstable assets in a free for all market that is 95% scam and grift sold to regular humans as valuable secure investments by celebs on tv

Story ending: and everybody lived happily ever after

It's a really cute fairy tale

Saw this on PH and it amused me. Apparently there seems to be consensus on there that NFT art is worthless - and there are plenty of people bigging up crypto generally.

For a longer, more detailed (and I mean detailed) explanation of why NFTs are shite, and crypto broadly is stupid, here's a 2hr+ vid from folding ideas

I started watching it quite late the other night and fell asleep (woops), but what I heard up to that point seemed technically accurate and perfectly plausible.

I have just finished watching it. Really, really good. So much work went into that. Big takeaway:

"The one market crypto has successfully disrupted is Fraud. Think of it this way: A big population of people have self identified that they have substantial disposable income, poor judgment, low social literacy, a high tolerance for non sensical risk and are highly persuadable."

I laughed, but it’s sounds totally plausible. Fraudsters are bound to go for the easier wins and least risk; it’s perfect.

There is a lot of fraud in crypto, true.

To say its all a massive fraud is incorrect. You could say devaluing fiat by printing shit loads is fraud too, it really actually is.

At this point it’s at best a pyramid scheme. Needs to constantly pull in suckers at the bottom so the folk at the top can cash out.
