I've been streaming the Sky coverage for the last few races, surprised at how weak their pundit team is. DC / Webber on C4 are much better than Hill at DiResta. I'd got the impression before that Button and Rosberg were more regular on Sky.

Sky only has Brundle and Ant going for it. You’re lucky you’ve not had to listen to Herbert yet. Button and Rosberg are rare guests.

MV leads the championship on race wins despite the level points. What odds he punts LH off in Abu Dhabi?

Just watched the 7 minutes highlights on YT. David Croft is way too shouty these days, can someone tell him to tone it down please?

Bonkers race - MV is a danger and a petulant child, interesting that LH was given a wrist slapping immediately when he didn't give MV the space that he wouldn't get if the positions were reversed - seems the stewards and whole race safety team are trying to mollify MV and whinger spice who seem to expect preferential treatment.

On balance probably the right decision that it's a one race shoot-out, MV does have the upper hand and could do a Schumacher and make sure he prevails by crashing into LH - would deligitimise any championship win in the eyes of many (and from that standpoint LH already has the record in moral terms and even more so if that does happen)

Lets hope that MV has some strong advice about racing clean next weekend and that he doesn't get any penalty from this weekend beyond what has already been given plus a good wrist slapping from the FIA/stewards.

LH has to produce something special next weekend to beat him though, he is going to be fired up and then some and if he puts a lap together like his final quali lap and doesn't bin it he will drive off into the sunset on race day!

Max is driving like a TAUC. But he’s not being held to account properly by the stewards, so - why not?

It’s like they see it and go “that’s just max”

That was intense (only just caught up). MV really needs to think about what he's doing. He's taking it beyond hard racing.

Edit: he's been given a further 10s penalty. Has no impact on the race outcome.

Bullshit really. It's hard to solely blame Max in terms of his driving style. Horner and Marko are encouraging it. Listening to Horner today post race was painful - just an endless stream of false shite, and Marko claiming that Red Bull have the telemetry showing Max didn't brake, which has just been shown to be false is damning. They'd both get a job in the Tory government within a second of applying.

Masi has also been pathetic this year, clearly not in control of the situation.

I don't particularly rate Max as a great driver now either, he's much like Seb during his RedBull days, incredibly fast over a lap and when he's on his own. Can't race wheel to wheel with an equally fast competitor for more than a corner to save his life. I've been more impressed with Perez's racecraft against Hamilton this year. Today reminded me of Seb's safety car red mist moment a few years ago...

https://the-race.com/formula-1/verstapp ... n-contact/

The stewards said it was “obvious” that neither driver wanted to be ahead before the DRS detection line.

They accepted Hamilton could have overtaken Verstappen before that when the Red Bull first slowed but they understood why neither wanted to be vulnerable to the other getting the DRS.

The stewards determined “the sudden braking was determined to be erratic and hence the predominant cause of the collision”.

But the “key point” was that Verstappen braked “suddenly and significantly” with 69 bar of pressure, “resulting in 2.4G deceleration”.

They imposed the standard 10-second time penalty for this type of incident as a result.

Horner saying he didn’t brake in any significant way “but hadn’t seen the data yet” 😂

Poll on here is quite telling

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/59536004

Who is the better driver, Lewis or max? Lewis currently 87% vs 13% max

I was quite surprised to see that MV won the "driver of the day" public pole yesterday

So given that they're level on points but Verstappen has most race wins, what are the odds that Verstappen takes both himself and Lewis out at turn one?
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

No bookies will offer odds against that happening. It’s an absolute certainty.

And a 10sec penalty for an action (brake test) which I can only rationalise as an attempt to cause a collision? Wot?

Lewis is bloody good though - it's not going to be like Schumacher and Hill when Hill seemed a bit naive. And it shouldn't be as blatant as Senna/Prost. So if Lewis just allows Max enough time and space not to competely cripple Lewis's car, all he needs to do is limp round to score any points at all.

LH still needs to finish ahead of MV though, it's definitely not going to be an easy one. And if 1997 taught us anything, you can get disqualified from the championship for intentional crashing.

This.

I guess firstly the RB might just be plain faster in AD, we know the last two were Merc tracks. Team mates could be crucial going into the last race as well though, let's say the Merc happens to be the better package, VB planting himself between MV and LH could be massive (as long as he could stay there for a change). If there's one driver MV couldn't bully in that situation it's VB. If Merc win the constructors and drivers title because VB manages to get his elbows out he could still be the hero.
