Gavin wrote: Sun Dec 06, 2020 10:26 am To be so close to Bottas after a couple of sessions in the car is a bloody good show. We know Bottas gets within a tenth or two of Lewis week in, week out, so it says more about George than Valteri.

I hope he has a decent race, even a boring one running round in 2nd or 3rd for 70odd laps. Looking good for 2022 in the team alongside Lewis presumably although they might pull a Ferrari and keep their second driver on and on and on, as they did with Massa and Kimi.
They already enquired to Williams about releasing George early for 2021 but Claire said no. Bottas’s time is definitely counting down
Yup, it was mentioned a page or two ago! ;) Shame, as VB is clearly bloody good but I do wonder how close Ferrari or RB would have go with two bloody goo drivers, rather than an exceptional one, such as Lewis, Daniel, Max. If the cars are more even, in 2022, given the potential with so many good young drivers in the field, it will be good to see Charles v Carlos as we know Carlos was pretty much on the pace with Max in TR, we don't really know if Seb is firing on all cylinders as he has been pretty lacklustre the last two seasons.

I’m sure with a good drive today merc could make an offer Williams couldn’t refuse.

The new Williams management seem more reasonable but I can’t see Toto throwing Bottas under the bus like that when he already has a contract for next year now.
How about not having a sig at all?

Hamilton still hasn’t signed for next year, so there’s still a chance he could pull a rosberg

Isn't Toto expected to quit at the end of the season? His replacement may want to make a splash by signing Russell.

No, there have been a flurry of rumours but in multiple interviews he has said he is planning for his moving to a new role but that it won't be 2021 and probably not 2022.

It's because he's in the fastest car.

He shouldn’t be ahead of bottas though- he’s in a car he doesn’t know, that he doesn’t actually fit in

Of course he will be it's natural that the actual fastest drivers are down the grid as it's all about money they bring.

I thought it would swing towards Bottas due to more experience with tyre management in this particular car but he’s worse on that front too.

He should just retire after this year 😂
