Don't forget your SORN!

Never SORN'd a vehicle before, but I guess I must've done for the Westy last year, because lockdown. I still don't remember doing it.

Took it out last week for it's first run of the year, and was rewarded with a letter from the DVLA saying they'd gladly accept £570 as punishment for my crimes (under threat of a £2500 fine). Fuck me. Feels a bit harsh.

But just a reminder in case any of you guys are equally forgetful.

Caught by ANPR? That's unlucky.

Check your car here: https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

I am guessing it would of been cheaper to keep it taxed rather than forget about the SORN ?

I have the Vehicle Smart app on my phone to keep tabs on the fleet https://www.vehiclesmart.com/

Yep, ANPR camera and yes, ended up about 3 times as expensive as not SORN'ing it.

It's annoying because I do knowingly do various naughty things, but to get busted for one that was an absolute genuine mistake bites a little.

I'm surprised you don't have re-SORN each year to be honest. It's a revenue stream the DVLA haven't seemed to cotton onto. Nice £25 fee for the privilege of NOT using your car for another year.

Then think of it as a balance for all this 'naughty' things you do, but get away with?
