Re: Supercar Market Update
Good read as always.
I think 4C fall into the "Lotus Paradox" comparatively low sales for a niche "everyman's" sportscar with interested parties waiting (and waiting) for depreciation which comes incredibly slowly.
I have a massive soft spot for Cizeta although I've not even seen one IRL. That blue one has a couple of recent YouTube videos on its sale and hopefully restoration.

Re: Supercar Market Update
Oh and the theme of the week is HOLD apparently.
Re: Supercar Market Update
Been following the 4C market for a few years - I almost bought one before the Evora...but lets be honest, you'd be far better off with an ExigeS or Elise at that price point for multiple reasons....not least that they can throw some serious bills.
I still want one, however. Prices have been rock-solid. I almost agreed to an LE for £35k but someone else pipped me before I could get a deposit on it, and that was over 2 years ago, prices are a little higher now, a decent LE will set you back close to £40k. Suspect they won't change much as very few for sale.

Agree on the 4C, I would have thought they would have dropped more but they just haven't. I believe there are a number of specialists now the can sort the suspension and add a bit of power for a relatively reasonable cost which adds a lot of desirability.RobYob wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 8:27 am Good read as always.

On the Cizeta, interesting thing to see but I think owning it other than as garage candy would be a pretty horrible experience. I doubt its well sorted and finding someone to work on it would be nearly impossible.
Re: Supercar Market Update
I remember there were briefly really cheap lease deals on the 4C. I still like them - they do have a presence to them.
Re: Supercar Market Update
I think those days are long gone. If they drop a bit more, I would be very tempted to buy one.
Re: Supercar Market Update
yeah, it was a very fleeting weird offer - it was seriously cheap too.
Re: Supercar Market Update
They have a seriously impressive little presence, I have only seen one and it looked great.
The engine tho!?

Re: Supercar Market Update
i think the general consensus from those who reviewed the was the same. They're still cool looking things though.
Re: Supercar Market Update
Yes but... the 4C does have a CF tub.
Re: Supercar Market Update
I think you can fit a few upgrades and get it up to a more respectable 300 bhp plus.
Re: Supercar Market Update
A couple of years ago I said several times on here that the 4C was one of very few cars that I really lusted after. I still do, but I think the Alpine would probably win out for me now but I think I'd regret it for a while every time I saw a 4C.

Re: Supercar Market Update
It’s not particularly tuneful but they go well and are easily tuned for loads more power.
Ok it’s not an exotic engine but with even Porsche sticking a 4pot in the far more upmarket boxster it was unlikely to ever get anything particularly special was it?
I doubt I’d ever own one but love how low and wide they look on the road. I’d take one over all the Elise variants bar an s1 exige or a supercharged v6 one.

Re: Supercar Market Update
There was a YouTuber that had one years ago in red with gold wheels which looked fab being driven at 100 mph down the Sloane Street drag strip.
I like them but the interior is horrible and by the time you fix the handling issues you’re close to £50,000 which is actual decent car money

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Supercar Market Update
Absolutely no idea why you’d buy one.
If you really want a performance Alfa buy a Giulia quattroformaggio
If you really want a four banger lightweight buy an Alpine or a Loltus.
If you really want a midengined car that sounds good and drives well, buy a 6cyl Boxster or Cayman.
I love Alfas and I loved my 156 as hilariously unreliable as it was but the allure of a Giulia with a Ferrari California engine less two cylinders is a no brainer compared to a jumped up farty fiat engined one, CF tub or not.
I REALLY cannot fathom a single reason why you’d buy one over a current V6 Exige on a total apples to apples basis.

I did really like the 33 1.7QF I had years ago. Stunningly bad build quality but hilarious to drive.
Re: Supercar Market Update
Not really in the same class.
I've had 4 Lotus's and I don't like the Alpine.
But then I'd be associated with "Porsche People"
Buying cars doesn't have to make sense you know if they did we'd all be driving economical Japanese saloons.
