I got in on this early on in the first lockdown and couldn't get enough of it. Don't really care much for Marmite but I can eat it. Marmite peanut butter is another level though.

No idea how good it is for you and I'm not going to look.

Vegemite is superior to Marmite, definitely. But I'd never try this - in fact, is Marmite copying Vegemite in making a disgusting mix of products?

Here's the entrance to the fried cake nomenclature rabbit hole.

Pikelets? Self raising flour, egg and milk (my favourite addition if a big splodge of greek yoghurt and some extra baking soda to use that acid to rise)
Flapjacks (not some weirdarse muesli bar) bigger versions of the pikelet recipe.

Pancakes = Crepes. Plain flour, milk and egg.

Metal egg rings are handy to add a bit of cooking to the side of a Crumpet and add some height too.

Flamesuit on.

Pikelets are flat crumpets, in the UK, dear ;) Arguably nicer imo as well as you can eat horrific quantities of them without noticing

I was going to laugh but then realised I was brought up on jam n cheese butties, so I best stay out of it. (Strawberry jam and white cheddar, on white bread)

RobYob wrote: Wed Nov 25, 2020 7:32 am For anyone who enjoys a bit of hot crumpet I recommend trying home making them. Piss easy recipe and the result is wonderful.

A sachet of yeast, 750ml of lukewarm milk, about two and a half cups of plain flour (enough to make the mixture the thickness of double cream) and sugar (I often use dark brown) to taste.

Activate the yeast, mix everything together, prove for around an hour somewhere warm. Pan fry spoonfuls with a little oil in egg rings.
Tried it. Failed to cook them through, even trying to cook them slowly so as not to burn the base. Resorted to making them into flat pancakes cooked on both sides.

How strange, It's like I'm being stalked!

Since being a kid I'd have:

2 rounds of toast, one with butter and Bovril and one with butter and crunchy peanut butter

or

2 rounds of toast, one with butter and Bovril and one with butter and Laughing Cow/Dairy Lea

And now you can buy this ready mixed?!

Sorry should have been explicit that I cook them both sides on the pan. To get the same "holey" top as a store bought they probably need finishing in an oven.

Using egg rings they generally end up about 10-15mm thick.

That's my default brekkie on a weekend! Who's doing the stalking? :?

I quite like a piece of toast with marmite and butter and a bit of toast with peanut butter and jam. It's like two course breakfast .

I'm not remotely interested in the marmite pb though. Keep it separate.
