The members section of the site shows only 148 registered users - I guess the 'users' in the above is people who have viewed the webpage? That's quite a lot of lurkers!

Those are sessions - which is essentially a visit to the site by a user. The above was over a timeframe of 5 months.

Interesting - so the number is pretty meaningless but it shows overseas usage.

Does it not flag if you use your phone abroad or does that show up as a UK user still (must do I guess because I logged in from Italy within the last 5 months and that doesn't show (unless its outside the top ten I guess).

It's useful metric when taken in the context of the other figures - hits, sessions, durations etc. Not for this forum, but if your website is business related then Google Analytics is a powerful tool to see reach, how long people spend on there, and so on.

Location will be based on IP address. Italy was number 11 !

No UAE interestingly... maybe JL lives in Germany these days... it does feature suspiciously highly!!

No idea when JL was last on (though his post count is still higher than mine). I chatted via email not long after he left and he wasn’t missing it.

I like the idea that the lurkers are all the leavers. That TVR bloke - whose friends should have told him really about his vest top - is probably one of them then.

Everytime i open the site on my iphone its logged me out. I only log in if i need to post so may be an element of that.

This is to do with how often your IP address changes. I can turn that off.
