So, manky front end and a crap engine. Why have they suddenly decided there's a market for one after all the years of insisting there wasn't (despite the popularity of hot Merc and Audi wagons?)

Yeah cause you're going to throw a dirty bike into the back of your 70k + M3 Touring..

There were early rumours that only the m4 would get the godawful pig nose, but no, looks like they’re all getting it.
There is bound to be an aftermarket bumper/grille available for this

Won’t be long before it’s a £7k car with those looks, then you can throw shit in it to take to the tip.

Yes, my Merc estate is solely for dirty bikes and absolutely nothing else that would necessitate a boot of that size/shape..

If you just buy a boot liner which goes up the side you can virtually shovel garden waste directly into the back.
For many it will be a fashion statement but a lot of people like the M3 and just need the practicality.

What Dave! said..
Had a look around a couple of Alpina B3 Tourings yesterday. I like the new satin wheels but the engine and looks are very understated, it’s not at all muscular. Cabin is nice and it’s an unusual car but I think it’s not for me. I’d love to try the i4 M50 if they did it in a Touring body but they don’t.
Also, having owned lots of black BMWs (6!), I’ve found a new favourite colour Tanzanite II ! It’s available on the M3 so I’m really tempted..
I want a Touring body, elec car ideally…… Is the Taycan CT the only one in the market??

What is the 3 series estate like for space these days? Every time I looked at them before, I thought I'd need a 5 for it to be of any proper use - i.e. bikes and decent size boxes without being a faff.

500L vs 570L - Think they measure to the parcel shelf though.
Tbh, it’s for my two dogs rather than ikea runs and I’ve had a 3 series estate before and they fit in that one, so should be fine.
You will always fill the space you have though!

Crap initial screenshot but it’s actually the Touring going around the ‘Ring

Yeah, they've done a series on YouTube of how it came about, with the last couple being the building of the first proper prototypes and then their 'Ring attempt with one of them which I think the aim was to get the fastest lap time for production estate car.

I guess the embargo was last night after the BMW trailer was released.

Costs and options seem to have been put up by some broker.
I'm off for a lie down and hope Mrs Mike never finds this link.
My M340i Touring was £43k ish new in 2020 and i get that its over £50k now but £85k for this seems

It seems like they’re raising the price of this by a few grand each day
It was £80,550 when the embargo was first lifted, then it was corrected to £83,740 at the Goodwood launch, and now £85-88k starting price is being thrown about.
