And yet the scary thing is that Krakatoa was equivalent to 3 Tsar Bombas and then even that was only a VEI 6 compared to Tambora that happened half a century earlier in 1815, a VEI 7 volcanic explosion which led to the 'year without a summer' with millions dying of famine. Scarily these eruptions seem reasonable frequent in the grand scheme of things
