Fish Supper
Re: Fish Supper
I always seem to enjoy chips more from worse areas.
Re: Fish Supper
Mik, the votes are clearly in - are you ready to rescind your savage ways?
Re: Fish Supper
Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's right.

Re: Fish Supper
I love curry sauce but I only ever put it on the chips.

My local pub does some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, for a fiver, the curry sauce comes in a gravy boatintegrale_evo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 11:31 am My curry sauce stays in the little pot so food can be dipped into it.

I really don’t know how they make any money out of it, I guess they rely on people buying a pint whilst they wait. Not surprisingly they always sell out on a Friday tooduncs500 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 12:00 pmCan't argue for a fiver!Orange Cola wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 11:41 amMy local pub does some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, for a fiver, the curry sauce comes in a gravy boatintegrale_evo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 11:31 am My curry sauce stays in the little pot so food can be dipped into it.

Dipping sauce seems like such a faff to me.
Saying that curry sauce and ketchup on fish is an abomination

Re: Fish Supper
There's a good chippy near my that I've started going to quite often, being in Shoreditch it's ridiculously expensive (£11.something for a fish supper) but it's good and not hipster.
What's the going rate where you are?
No sauce or mushy peas for me, just salt and vinegar. Boiled frozen peas or a small salad are good sides but I don't usually bother with that.

Re: Fish Supper
To be fair, when we have fish and chips I rarely have fish anyway, couple of battered sausages for me which are delicious dipped in curry sauce. If I do have cod it doesn’t get dipped, just lashings of salt and vinegar and only the chips go in the sauce pot.
Just wish I could find somewhere in the uk which did proper German currywurst

I can’t help it... I need to know what curry sauce and ketchup on fish & chips tastes like.
Cheers,
Mike.

The chippy over the road from us is about £7 for a large fish supper I think.Pete_ wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:11 pm There's a good chippy near my that I've started going to quite often, being in Shoreditch it's ridiculously expensive (£11.something for a fish supper) but it's good and not hipster.

Just over £6 for a standard cod and chips that I struggle to finish.Pete_ wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:11 pm There's a good chippy near my that I've started going to quite often, being in Shoreditch it's ridiculously expensive (£11.something for a fish supper) but it's good and not hipster.

Neil has introduced a new category, so much sauce that the Chippy Tea has become a Stew
You need a bowl and a spoon for that.
