The chain keeps coming off my nephews bike, it’s had no adjustment since he started riding it. Am I right in thinking chains stretch with use? I want to try and fix it but I don’t want to make things worse.

Where/when does it come off? I'm assuming at the front, so does it come off the smallest ring or the biggest, when he's changing up/down?

Yes, chains stretch over time, but there's also small limit adjuster screws on the front derailleur which control how far the chain moves when going up/down the chainrings - sometimes this just needs adjusted.

Chains do stretch but it’s worth checking if the derailleurs are aligned properly first. It’s been a while since I’ve done it but there should be little screws on them to adjust them in and out.
