You’re only 67, wait until your 80 then get the Yaris or Jazz.
I'm 66.5. So there! Not considering a Jazz at all really...

I think they look ace, I’d have one.
Exactly Dan. And I'm assuming you're a powerfully built 30 something company director!

Why not start saving for one, then as your bank account increases and they come down in value you can meet part way?

What do they sound like?
Hedges or Porsches?
Yaris GRs, it’s all very well being relatively quick, but if they sound dull they’ll be no alternative to a 6 cyl Boxster (see 4 cyl boxster.)

They are 1608 cc 3-cyl Rich. Threes don't sound too bad to me, but I agree flat sixes sound better.

The money we've saved on coffees out, pubs and eating out during lockdown won't quite finance a car change, but it might run to another watch (my other weakness).

I know what they are, they have a turbo too.
I can obviously speak from experience, going from a hugely characterful NA engine to a smaller dull FI one, sound and engine character are far more important than 0-60 times.
But by the same token, not all smaller engines are the same, hence I’d like to know how this one sounds and whether it actually has character or just a load of power.

They're nice, but not sure they're £30k (or £33k with circuit pack) nice.
Maybe in 12-24 months once they've taken a bit of a hit and dropped closer to 20k.

I think they’re value for money compared to some of the other offerings because of its output and AWD, so a Focus ST is in the £30k’s for a Petrol FWD but it’s a larger car with more kit. The similar sized Fiesta ST is cheaper, so I guess the Yaris sits in the upper end between the two. I think a Golf GTi is less power but similar money to the Focus ST? I could be wrong with that.

It's in a pretty unique space. I mean, the only recent competition I can think of is the Audi A1 which was £26k back in 2015 (?). I suspect the spec of that base car was woeful, however - but it does have that cache of the brand.
Without wanting to go off on a tangent, has anyone tried an S1? Always thought with a map to 320bhp they'd be a hoot.
