You can ruin my dreams of a 550, we’re they reliable and did they have high maintenance schedules?

Always wanted one.

So the quick answer to the question "what's better than a V12 in front of you" is "Anything with the engine behind you" :D

Starts browsing Ebay for MR2s ;)

Speculatively, the whole raison d'etre of the mega engined GT is effortless speed without the more lethal handling characteristics of a mid-engined design. However, handling is now "dial your own" in the modern era of magical tyres and sophisticated stability control.

So a question for you. A fun drive on damp Autumn day. 550 or 675LT without electronic safety net?

Reliability was never an issue on any of the 4. The Daytona had a few issues but they were known and more part of its mini restoration.

Easy answer, the 675LT. It has a lot more mechanical grip and is very progressive when it decides to wiggle its tushy.

I forget how handsome a car the 550 is and I guess with the way their styling is going It’s going to be seen as a real classic some day.

I seem to remember everyone thinking they were a bit ugly but it was ok because they were amazing to drive ( even more so the 575) and were good value for money at one point.

I’ve always loved the 550, it’s from one of their best eras imo.

A mate’s brother had one, it was ruinous. It often wouldn’t start and when it did it sometimes wouldn’t stop 😂

Despite the Daniella Westbrook scoop, they do look great and have aged much better than Daniella Westbrook.

A manual 575 Superamerica is in my Lotto Garage

Another great article by the way SSO - as always, thanks for sharing your experiences.

By the way, how does your good lady wife like the current "Karen" Internet Meme's ? :)

Shes going to have a word with the manager about why she hasn’t been shown them...

I think we will leave well enough alone.
