A colleague has a microlight and was out in it for the first time in ages recently. Lovely sunsets etc. Asked if I can track his next flight on this site.

Great find, I love Flightradar24 but it not showing military/police stuff was a bit crap. I'm near-ish to Biggin Hill so get a lot of smaller/weird stuff fly over (one regular is a Piaggio P180 Avanti which has twin pusher propellors, it's really noisy but cool), but saw this one earlier, weird track, some sort of mapping data collection I guess.

I've noticed a lot of planes coming up with the generic image and no details lately, or sometimes not coming up with any information even if it gets the image of the plane type correct :?

I heard some helicopters coming over a little while ago and had a look on the app.

So apparently Apaches don’t show up on this flight radar...

I’ve tracked two past my house on it (three posts further up from this one) so it appears it’s hit and miss.

May be who they're flying with, the USAF stuff out of Mildenhall seems to never show up no matter if they're high or low altitude.

Seems to get most of the stuff which goes over us including the pair of c130s which go over a couple of times most evenings and the c5 galaxy which just went past.

Lot of activity last night. Spotted 3 typhoons, 4 Apache gunships, 2 chinooks, 2 ospreys & 2 Hercules.

Planes/helicopters don’t really interest me much - but I’d still be excited to see an Osprey. They are ridiculously cool.

Yeah, I'm not really a plane buff, but it's still impressive seeing the military stuff flying past nice and low.

Site seems a bit hit and miss with military stuff, didn't pick up an apache flying past at about 50ft last Friday while I was at the farm as I wanted to see where it was going and if it was going to head back past.

Following this news I’m surprised to see only one aircraft in the area performing what appears to be a search pattern

RAF Lakenheath: US fighter jet crashes into North Sea https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-53051055

It looks like there’s a DC10 refueller heading out but not sure if that’s for the plane in the search area or the AWACS further out to sea.

It was much busier earlier. I see the plan has been found but still no trace of the pilot 😔
