It’s not a base model either as it has the performance and luxury packs. I don’t like the coupe much but the convertible has a fucking amazing rear deck and wing which makes me want one

Best way to enjoy the last v8 ever.

Yeah, that price is a shame. If they’d had it closer to £60k it would’ve stolen more sales from the European companies imo.

From that angle the Coupe looks great - although it looks like a photoshop?

US pricing makes it far more attractive over there of course - where it undercuts the Cayman. But (unfortunately) this isn’t the scenario for the UK.

McSwede wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2020 9:06 am Why would you buy that over a 911??
Because it drives well and is over a second quicker to 60? I’m not saying I’d have one at £80k, but in the US where the Corvette is considerably cheaper than the base 911 ($60k vs $100k), it would be almost a no brainer.

And @mik, stop being Yankist.
The US prices in the UK would undoubtedly make it more appealing but it looks cheap and like a dog's dinner so that'd stop me having one against a 911 even though it's quicker. I'd rather a used, decent spec Cayman over a US price Corvette.

You do you, but the 2 cars aren’t really comparable.

I don’t think anyone thought it would be priced the same here as in the US? They already make no profit on the base car, throw in shipping, taxes, complying with legislation and emissions, RHD conversion and you get what you get. Maybe if/once Brexit goes to absolute shit and we start trading that sweet sweet chlorinated chicken then we’ll get a Vette here from £60k and a 911 will start from £100k making it a bargain 😂
Of course we’ll all be less well off and in a recession but let’s not let facts get in the way.

They are in terms of them being "sports cars" and I base my opinion upon having driven neither. The Corvette is gopping to my eyes and just isn't desirable.

May I suggest a lightly used Mk2 MR2?

You could as it'll be better built and last longer.

It’s EXACTLY the same as all corvettes have always been in the UK. Amazing VFM in America, but not so much over here, so only bought in tiny numbers.

The only variation of this over the decades has been when the exchange rate makes them seem more reasonable.

As I’m on form for this I’ll stick my hand up and say I like the design  it’s good looking, but it’s nothing more. If in a number of years time I had the garage space and some money I’d certainly consider buying a used one and supercharging it 8-)

TBH if they get cheap it’d be cool to get the running gear and stick it in the back of an old pick up.

The engine is still LS based after all so depending how strong the transmission and stuff is you could get very silly with it.

It's growing on me. I'd definitely be happy to have one.

You’d be cheaper just buying a crate LS and Tremec box.

Yeah actual affordability is a small concern when it comes to my projects that are never going to happen

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a C10 with corvette bits in the bed at SEMA whenever the next one is though.

Not so sure, anything that's been in the UK will have major rust issues.

I really like the new Corvette! I'd probably have one over a 911.

I’d definitely have one over a used Cayman.

Below would be far more desirable for the same sort of money. It's only about 12 miles away. Just need to have a root around for that spare pile of cash 🤣🤣

Cheap, nasty American tat. Zero desire for the horrid thing. They look awful.
