Ok song, doesn't need to be played a dozen times a day in the lead up to Christmas.

I've managed to only hear it twice this year.

I'm really, really, REALLY, sick of the endless repeat of Christmas pop this year. Only thing worse than the originals are the breathy remakes by whatever popstar is in the charts. Regretting finding the FunKids radio station and getting the kids excited about it.

A salve yesterday was needing to go back home to pick up some stuff, meaning two hours of just me in the car. There was metal, grunge and loud singing. It was bliss!

You know which Christmas song is most irritating when played repeatedly?

it just a shameless effort to get a bit of long term income isn’t it. Record some shit version of a song in the hope of selling it over and over again every year rather than just for the time the song is new.

Indeed. Without some sort of counteragent I probably have had a lifetime's dosage of it.

What’s even worse than this is retconning old songs to update for the metoo generation - like the update to Baby It’s Cold Outside

His birthday today too.
Doesn't make it any better though.

It’s about how the Irish have collectively adopted the song as an anthem for excusing Christmas behaviour, not where MacGowan was born.

Kirsty, bless her, was for from Croydon too... ;)

I’ll be honest I never knew the back story to “Do they know it’s Christmas” - always thought it had stupid lyrics and was generally a terrible song. Found out yesterday about that it was for raising money for famine which makes the lyrics a bit more odd but at least the feed the world line makes sense.

It's hard to believe that someone of reasonable intelligence cannot know the back story to that song 🤣🤣
