Not sure this one will get to 120 pages.

I'm slightly confused now though as I believe forum convention is that the subject of these threads is guaranteed at least another 18 months...

He said he wouldn’t fight another election so does that mean he plans to hang on for another 4.9 years?

Honestly, would anyone be surprised if he did?

Did he really fight this one? 😄

Not at all. However he really needs to be gone within twelve months so his successor has a fair crack at the next election.

I think he hit it hard and hit it fast with a major, and I mean MAJOR, leaflet campaign.

Its going to be a proper power struggle now between the loony left and the remaining social democratic rump.

I'll PMSL if the membership then elects McDonnell as the next leader.

Who is their best hope from the PLP now though? Chuka has gone, Watson gone, etc. etc. Yvette Cooper?

Keir Starmer is favourite from that side, I think?

Top Rimmer'ing.

I don't see momentum giving up control of the party, so on that basis I predict with McDonnell or a.n.other Corbyn Mk2.

He’s remaining as leader but won’t take part in the next election. So why is he still here? He’s a lingering odious smell.

I was genuinely amazed that he was even a contender and all the hysteria that he may become PM.

Who had even heard of him before he suddenly became party leader ?

To make sure the party is set up to continue his ideology. That it's clearly not what the people want seems quite irrelevant to him.

Was he not put forward as a joke then won to everyone's surprise? I recall reading that Tories were joining the Labour party specifically to vote for him to kill off the party but it ended up having huge increase in members. I am sure they banned new members voting in the leadership election) Perhaps the policies are by and large correct (Brexit excluded) but the mud stuck with the relentless campaign my MSM?

Re-nationalise everything, then introduce 4 day weeks by telling everyone they’re currently not working hard enough on the 5 days. But not nurses, obviously.

And re-nationalising everything had absolutely NOTHING to do with creating a 4 or 5 million strong cohort of State Employees who would feel that any vote other than a Labour vote in future elections, was in effect voting for their own redundancy.

nope, nothing to do with that at all...

I’m hoping the more centrist, non-momentum part of Labour join forces with the LD to present us with a viable alternative to the Conservatives; they’ve got 5 years, but even then I’m not holding my breath!
