Personally I like the car but hate the way they’ve used the Mustang name, just ‘Mach E’ will suffice.

Why the fuck are they using the Mustang name on a four door SUV?

Same reason they use GTO on something that's neither a Grand Tourer or Omologated.

Same reason BMW use M and, worse still, Competition, on X variants!

Everyone so far is 110% correct in this thread.
I wonder if it’ll generate enough vitriol for the US that Ford will do a U-turn, just like they did when they announced the Mustang was going to go FWD back in the ‘80’s

My only thinking is that they’re preparing people for the future when the Mustang will have to be fully electric? Think of it as a mild lubing rather than straight shafting.

I don’t think people are too bothered about an electric 2 door coupe with a Mustang badge on, Ford have built a one off 900bhp electric version of the current Mustang and it’s been received very well. The vast majority of people have expressed interest in a hybrid V8 followed by a full on BEV if Ford can use the electric motors to up the power and there’s still plenty of non BEV ones about for folk who don’t want a new one.
