EGRs removed and blanked, actuator free......and we have power!

Went out to try encourage it to go into limp home or cut power and its fine, pulled up to 110 (eventually 😅 ) without complaint or any smoke.

Also received some less swollen nuts and a towbar lock so i can get the towbar removed now ( cheers again mik ).

There's some beige leather seats on ebay I'm tempted by for 200 quid to brighten the interior a bit but I'm undecided 🤔

Galaxy apparently needs a whole new fan unit. Control module is no longer working so the fan runs full tilt without ever turning off until the battery is drained.

Took it to a local garage that read the codes and told me a new fan unit is £800 with £50 fitting, can't buy the fan control units alone from Ford.

Looking online there are plenty of control modules for sale, so worth a try as they're £40-50.

Will get a second opinion too, fan currently disconnected, so far isn't being used except to get the kids.

Blue skies and sunshine yesterday combined with a free hour in the afternoon led me to taking the boxster out for a spin. Nearly a month since I had driven it any distance as the Jag has taken over as my daily/long distance driver. Put the roof down and ran out to Horton-cum-Studley (stop sniggering) and back via the back roads. The immediacy and tactility of it were a breath of fresh air after the woofly old Jag, even little things like the narrow steering wheel.

Yeah, but only Cisco can patch their own mess and will spend a few weeks arguing that "its not in the contract", before agreeing they should do it... and then charge you for it.

Definitely not bitter about them based on current assignments....

New Windscreen fitted this week, the guy from Autowindcreens did a decent job and it looks fine, no crack in it so I can get the MOT done now before I lay it up and SORN it for the winter.
Oil cooler ordered. Despite being dicks about the fitting I looked at the suppliers website (had more information than eBAY and was £40 cheaper too) and it had enough information for me to be confident of the fitting on the sandwich plate and they are by far the cheapest for a quality branded kit so I went with them.
Whether I get to fit it before winter or in the spring is another matter as the weather seems to have now turned for the worse.

Car booked in for mid Jan for the respray so should have it back in the spring 8-)

Going to Mr Flew for the underbody re-fresh in October/ November 8-)

Pondering what car to get after I’ve done the trips I want to do in this but can’t decide. I want to modify a car again so was thinking a 3.4 996 Carrera that I can make lighter, chop stuff out of and make handle better as I won’t worry about resale.

Or a Caterham

Or an ek6 civic type R

Or a 3200GT

Or or or

Think I’ll finish this car first

Dave!

Only one person brought up the subject of butt plugs...

Anyway, Ascender's dog toy looks more like a tunnel plug.

New fan control module has arrived (£45), so will be fitting that tomorrow.

Wife just called to say that someone had reversed into the O/S front. Looks like it'll need a new wing and arch liner. I'll take a closer look when she comes home.

Car was parked in front on my S-i-L's house and the other driver is a neighbour, so hopefully no issue this time round. Details have been exchanged.

Quite annoying!

I've looked at all of those at one time or another. The 3200GT is really a car for the brave, not so much for the handling but the build and finish of Mazers is utterly appauling.
The Caterham still appeals but the wife would hate it, the EK9 (was so close to buying one back in 2005) still appeals but so many have had their hearts removed and replaced with a generic K20 or B20 and the B16B is utterly astounding so IMO it's sacrilege to remove it.
Still leading me back to the Griff. I did try and sell her the Elan M100 after seeing it on a WD episode but she didn't like the design. Still it's fun looking and trying to choose.

Grrr.

'cos a Ford Galaxy is easy to miss in your blind spot when reversing
