Galaxy blew the O/S brake bulb again. That's something like 3-1 O/S v N/S.

I replaced it.
Check the bulb holder and the central sprung tab will probably be flat. Bend it up, ours have done that on the brake bulbs and this sorted it, it gets a bad connection and ends up flickering over bumps etc which creates a small arc and ultimately blows the bulb regularly.

Dave!
Cheers!

My squeak is fixed. Over tightened handbrake might have been the issue.

Carnewal exhaust plan is on hold as he has no stock.

I “downgraded” to normal ones instead of oil-filled. Not too expensive and easy to do.

Must be one of the only things that the car hasn’t had done, will add to the list!

Does he still have the system whereby you pay him in full then send him your old exhaust and he refunds you an amount? Maybe that was only in the old days of the 2.5 when he did something equivalent to a 'gundo hack'.

Yes that's it. 1000 euros 500 back when you return your exhaust.

Just had an email from halfords explaining the benefits of silicone wiper blades, exclusively from halfords!

You know, silicone wiper blades I’ve been using and banging on about for at least 10 years now.

Not cheap either, their own brand and seem to be similarly priced to the piaa ones I use. Would be interesting to see if they work and last as well.

I’m guessing this is similar to what I did to my m3 one and what lots of people with other m3s pay someone to do? Chop open the box, modify / remove some pipes and weld it back together?

Interesting. Shame they all appear to be flat blades - I bunged some cheap flat blades on from Halfrauds when I got the BMW and they don't quite sit right at the edges of the screen so not sure if the Halfords Silicon ones would be any good.

Yes - find me someone to do it near me and they can have my money :)

What model is it exactly and how much is a secondhand rear box?

987.1 3.4 2007.

Its funny you should ask as I got outbid on a pair that had done 100 miles only - 185 quid they went for - usual price is 200 each side used.

I can get a system made at Longlife - Tony Banks in Leeds for 700 - they seem a bit chav loud

A valved topgear one is a grand.

The Tony Banks stuff is pricey but has a good reputation locally for doing good work and being accommodating for custom requirements. Chum of mine gets her car serviced/looked after there (nothing fancy, just an Astra) and is always happy with them.

Broccers they can make it pretty much as loud or as quiet as you want, FWIW.

Beany I'm tempted as that price is fitted and yes that's right you can choose your sound plus its not too far away.

People seem to be buying things from me again so might be able to afford it too

You don’t need a whole system Shirley ? Can’t you just get the existing one modified a la the “gundo” method ?

That’s what he’s talking about doing. I would have offered my services if he was closer.

Could always leave it with me for a couple of weeks :P

Had a bit of a play with a mk5 golf GTi earlier in the spam charriot. A roll on from 2nd gear out of a roundabout. Nothing in it up to the point I backed off to cruising speed which I was fairly pleased with.

I did have to do a reg check on it when it came past as there weren’t any badges and had a sinking feeling it was a 1.4 or something

Diving further down the Subaru performance rabbit hole now. I have the prodrive sportcat dump pipe and have an sti intercooler and undertray coming. Will be ordering a mocal oil cooler kit next week too.
Idea is that the boost can be upped a bit in the map (should comfortably hit 350bhp and now be at the limit of the standard pistons) and that we can keep the temps down (oil, water and intake) down as it gets a bit hot now.
