They played a major role in our leaving the EU though. Which in time, I hope, will be regarded as a major contribution to the increased wealth, stability and independence of our nation when measured in comparison to our former member states.

Once the whole Brexit thing is done, are the Tories a spent force? The original thrust of this thread was anticipating May's departure, but as I saw pointed out a couple of days ago, the Conservatives have had a majority in Parliament for a mere 2 years since the last days of Major's government 1996:
1997-2010 - in opposition
2010-2015 - coalition with the Lib Dems
2017 to date - supply and confidence agreement with the DUP

Corbyn might not be electable, but it seems the Conservatives aren't either.

If you exclude the 3 Blair terms, then you have to go back a long long way for a Labour majority too so difficult to say.

Is it positive that we can more easily ship meat halfway across the world? Fairly sure they've got both sheep and cows in Japan already.

That'll be another negative of Brexit: the environmental cost of all the supposedly amazing trade we'll be doing with places much further away than we do now.

I've only ever voted Conservative once IIRC. That was for David Cameron on the off chance that we might get a referendum on our continued membership of the EU. To be fair, they did deliver that.

However the way that they've conducted things, from his resignation onwards, has exposed the complete contempt that the parliamentary tory party has for the wishes of it's own grass roots membership, let alone everyone else. They are a sham.

So I won't vote for them again.

That and the fact that we're under a conservative govt. and I've never had such a greater % of my income taken by HMRC.

I think perhaps that as long as Jeremy Corbyn remains in post, along with his key cult members, the tories will remain in the larger % of the electorates view, to be the least worst option. Particularly if the economy takes an upturn in comparison to eurozone fortunes prior to the next election.

I have no idea who the tories would actually appeal to though at present.

Sounds like planning for just the one outcome, much like the Brexit referendum. What if there isn't any upturn, whether or not due to Brexit (China recession hitting the world as a whole, for instance)?

They're fucked I reckon. In their current guise anyway. The best chance they have of getting any genuine mass support following the brexit they appear to be delivering, is to install somebody like Sajid Javid.

The right likes him anyway (he's a darkie but he's one of us like..).

They do need to shift TM as soon asap. I've never known the country to be this gloomy before and I blame her face for that largely.
