Will it though?

I can’t imagine it having the golf r / s3 effect of being fast and capable yet normal enough looking to slip under the radar, ie perfect getaway vehicle.

I think it’s bonkers and I love it, and hope the widespread praise for it encourages other manufacturers to start doing similar again, however I’d struggle to buy one because ‘yaris’ despite being virtually no Yaris in it

I’ll have one in 10 years at £5k 😂

Looking at those valves I very much dislike that they're dumping inward at the gearbox :? Also if they're fully electric (rather than remote vacuum/electric) they do not like getting too hot. Be interesting to see how durable the whole setup is.

Those valves have been around for years.

I’ve been wanting to fit one before the back box on the merc for ages but not got round to it yet

And yeah, shame there had to be a gimmicky theme to the build, hopefully the finished item is a quick and good looking car which happens to have a few silly gadgets tacked on rather than them becoming the main focus.

I am very happy that it exists 8-)

I always wonder how Insurance companies view things like driver-adjustable torque splits.... “watch this”...

Yes they have, but installed so close to the headers?

Check out the 992 setup.

A longer shaft and a load of shielding+insulation and that is in post muffler gas flow.

Now with the CH seal of approval:

The numbers are great, it has wide arches and no chavvy big spoilers, reasonable price, not fwd...: it ticks so many boxes!

Yet, I still have zero desire because it's a Yaris. #snob.
Love it, want one, can't afford one.

It’s takes the niche title from Alpine A110 who had taken it from the GT86 for the car you would have bought had it been half the price.
How about not having a sig at all?

I really admire what they've done - kudos to any manufacturer that treads that path as so few ever do. However, I have zero desire for one. I'm not sure why - I think maybe it's just I feel my time has been served enduring small segment hot hatches. If they'd taken the same approach to the Supra though...

If I were a 17 year old with rich parents I'd probably be excited by this... but I'm not and I aren't really.

3cyl engine sounds like it makes way nicer noises than a 4 though (which seems to be true generally).

1300kg is also ridiculous for a Yaris. I mean I know safety regs make stuff heavier but that's just silly.

Ignoring the badge, looks like it's roughly the same weight, wheelbase and power as an Impreza from, eek, 20 years ago (e.g. https://www.parkers.co.uk/subaru/imprez ... -2d/specs/).

Yep, same power and weight as my chipped Lancia, I bet a very similar size too. About right for that sort of car really. Aren’t the 2wd minis at least 1200kg now

Welcome to 15yrs ago

Clio 197 was 1240kg back in 2005, so not all that surprising that a similar sized hatch would be 1280kg by now. Admittedly it's surprising it isn't closer to 1200 when you factor in the weight saving panels and 3cyl engine vs something like the mk3 Clio RS models.

It's about the same weight as my golf (1280 v 1320) with 12bhp more. Good that they've managed to get 4wd in that, but it's still a 200bhp/tonne hot hatch rather that any super rally's special.

Differentials and driveshafts aren’t exactly known for being light, plus I bet it makes a chunk more torque than the clio meaning all those drivetrain components also have to be suitably beefed up as well as the shell to both handle the same and have those extra components hung off the bottom of it.

And the same car with 4wd, ie golf r, weighs 1500kg.

And it's four wheel drive, remember.

Edit - between typing this, getting distracted by work, and hitting Submit, the point has been covered already

1280kg for a torquey four wheel drive 'smallish' car ain't bad going IMHO.

yep, somewhere around there - I wonder what the true weight of a no options, 3dr Golf R manual is?

But sounds like 4wd gubbins adds 150-200kg.
