They were but in fairness the 718 models have sold substantially less than the flat-six models. 20% is actually quite a dip - I wouldn't go far as to call it precipitous though

I'm just trying to demonstrate my non-worked-uppy-ness. I'm sure GG will have figures to support his original statement presently.

I will have a look and see if I can work out worldwide or European figures as I am genuinely interested not just for the sake of having an argument. It is a valid point that the US often differs to other regions (i.e. in their preference for manuals). Will be interesting to see if the drop is equivalent elsewhere.

I think being clear helped!
GG - your article has 718 sales at 24,750 in 2018, which was âslightly downâ on the previous year. Your task is to find the previous years!

It's not an argument. It's requesting substantiation of a previous interesting statement.

Here GG - let me put you out of your misery:
http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sa ... e-boxster/
http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sa ... he-cayman/
http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sa ... rsche-718/
Totalling the Boxster and Cayman figures, and then comparing them to the 718 figures, there is hardly any difference. Approx 8.500 a year.

I wonder what itâs like to be so sure of your own correctness that youâll state opinion as fact without checking even a little bit

Fair enough. That is interesting so the drop off is clearly in concentrated in the US (which makes sense as the reports I'd heard were probably all from US based sources). Europe is flat from JL's links and presumably then the Chinese must be buying more to offset the fall in the US.

I'm sure I saw whilst looking that China sales for 911/718 were something like 150% previous years - so yep.
Just goes to show that journalists can tell whatever story they want by giving half the info.

I would also be interested in the UK (or Great Britain as Porsche refer to us) numbers but I haven't seen a breakdown so far.

My figures were âproductionâ, the story is even less dramatic when you go with âdeliveriesâ.
https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/annual- ... 17172.html
2014 23,597
2015 22,663
2016 23,620
2017 25,114
2018 24,750
Yes, the 2018 sales were a whole 364 down...

Rich - what do you make of the figures of UK registrations on HowManyisleft ?

So this proves that 911s should just come from the factory with an LS in them, yeah?

well youâve forgotten to post any link to what youâre referring to, so I donât really know... I imagine that all the cars on howmanyisleft are uk registrations though.

I'm only interested in UK sales, because I live in the UK and mostly see cars from the UK

great, well you can click on that link and find out how many cars are left on the road from lots of manufacturers! Itâs very clever!
