Re: Your fleet running reports
Have you tried a fallout remover. A lot of the black specs on my white mito aren't tar and need a fallout remover or a physical method ( fingernail or clay ) to remove.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I've not tried it Harry, the stuff I rubbed made brown stains like tar does, will it shift that?

Re: Your fleet running reports
If tar remover is dissolving it slowly then it probably is just well baked on and dried out tar.
I'd still try a fallout remover. Autoglym magma can be bought in Halfords and works well. If it finds iron contaminants it turns purple. Makes a huge difference to how bright and crisp my car looks.

Ahh, I remember this well. There was a recall for all Renault 19's at the time and it was my job as the apprentice to replace them. The new cable had more heat proofing on it, was a bit longer and took a slightly different route. The clutch pedal was also replaced as the cable exited at too sharp an angle and caused the cable to snap prematurely.Rich B wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 11:52 am Similar issue when I had the clutch cable snap on my R19 16v
Most were replaced, but I expect some slipped through the net as this was circa 1993/94, so getting hold of people wasn't as easy as it is today.

yeah, I think the cable went inside the exhaust heat shield when it could have quite easily run outside it. I just ran it where ever it seemed sensible to put it!Gwaredd wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 9:13 amAhh, I remember this well. So new tyres on the ML, tyres fitted fine but when I checked the torques on the nuts not one was right. One was over 300nm
Re-torqued them all and took the long way to and from my parents to check all was well. I forget every time how crap tyres can feel in the last mm or so of legal tread. It’s like I’ve more grip and dropped the tyre pressures 5psi, lovely.
Also stuck the trickle charger on it for a day as I was getting a low coolant alarm which always seems to happen after lots of short trips in winter. Seems fine now.

I've always found tyres feel their very best just before they go in the bin.
As long as it's dry anyway
New tyres alwyas feel slimy and squishy.

New hose required that was the issue, not so expensiveBroccers wrote: Sat May 16, 2020 2:49 pm Yes he did mention box off and not easy when he didn't even open the bonnet to solve the problem.
Hopefully not too broken.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, new tyres are noticeably more quiet though.
How about not having a sig at all?

You’ve had 5-20k to progressively get used to the old ones. They’re like an old pair of slippers.

No, he was saying they are still grippy.

Used my mitos roof bars for the first time. Was paranoid the whole time that the straps were going to work loose and bash the roof
Was expecting them to be noisy but really didn't notice them until 80ish where there was a bit of a whistle.
And no, not the biggest set of ladders in the world, but they wouldn't fit in the e46 touring so zero chance in the space inefficient mito!

Cat has found a new favourite hiding spot in the fiat

Washed the merc and soon realised I must have either run out of time or forgot to give the bonnet a coat of fusso when I did the rest as it got wet instead of the water just falling off

Re: Your fleet running reports
The old ones just felt hard and didn’t have that last bit of mechanical grip you would expect.
Admittedly it’s a 2.1 ton tall car but it still handles nicely.
I think if I drove a Caterham 7 I’d become over-stimulated and need a lie down
