How the heck do you fill a RX8 at the petrol station?

The issue is switching on and then switching off when it is idling cold (ie running rich). Where they flood.

Either warm it up - at which point switching off an idling engine won’t cause it to flood.

Or raise the revs to 4krpm when cold and switch it off - this clears the chambers of fuel as it spins down so doesn’t flood.

theres a hole in the side under a flapulous flap, which has some kind of snergely hose directly into the fuel tank I believe.

(Just been reading Dr Seuss books)

Come on then man.

There’s a hole in the side, under flapulous flap,
Where the fuel it goes in, but it never comes back,
A snergely hose guides it into the tank
Where the engine may guzzle upon it, with thanks

Ours never drank much oil Rev.

Since having its major engine work a couple of years ago, its been pretty much spot-on. Only issue it (rarely) gives me is a warning that the convertible roof isn’t shut when it is. Quickly resolved by a swift judo-chop to the part of the roof where the iffy sensor is located. German engineering, ey?

I’ve had it five years this year and still love it. Always look forward to driving it and always pleasantly surprised at how solid it feels, inside and out. Looks as good as the day I picked it up and it’s aging well, to my very unbiased eyes, at least.

Hope I never have to sell it.

Civic
Up and running again now the battery’s been charged. Will get the iffy circuit looked at at the weekend. Glad I have it as a daily as the 55MPG and go anywhere, do anything mentality I have towards it are very welcome. Needs a bloody good service, though. Can’t complain about it as I paid £1100 for a one owner, FSH car.

Beetle
Looks aside, it’s been very Golf-like (unsurprisingly). Also feels really solid and gets my GF where she wants to go without issue or complaint. Scrubs up well and drives very nicely. I have a real soft spot for it which I tend to not tell anyone about…

I was reminded when watching Hoovie's recent video on his $700 Beetle Turbo S (the badge looked dodgy as heck, obviously applied once it arrived in the US) and remembered I rather liked the Beetle I got for my ex-wife. I'd have had it in a colour other than cream if it were mine, but hey, it wasn't and I managed to insist on the black soft top on ours

I watched that last night too. Funny - I hated these when they came out and now I'm quite liking them :?

Not quite as much as the Car Wizard though - his attraction to them looked a bit... unnatural

I renewed the Fabia only as it was cheaper paying a renewal fee than letting it lapse then having to pay a new business fee later on.

Good point. I would have gone for a laid up policy (or whatever they're called) to keep continuity and also sorned it when off road. Cars are being far more of a pita than a pleasure atm.

Rich caught me at it because of a couple of posts I made in the ebay thread :) I'll probably wander off now for another browse...there were recently two Colour Concept V5s on there, one red and one blue.
Have started watching the Hoovie's vid; $700 :o

Sale agreed on the 530d (deposit taken, bank transfer tonight, collecting tomorrow).

A very good car that never quite did anything interesting enough to endear itself to me. And the seats weren’t very comfy.

If evostick isn’t barrelling round the country lanes of Gloucestershire in his Land Rover, drinking warm ale and brandishing a shotgun, I’ll be very disappointed.

It’s odd, I really liked the early F10s I had as courtesy cars but I don’t miss my 535i Touring at all. I think options like adaptive drive really add to the car; shame they are so rarely specced. The A6 Allroad getting air suspension as standard meant you didn’t miss out if you didn’t option it up.
