Why do people bid round numbers on ebay? Everyone knows you add a few £ and pence onto your bid to get it over the line.

I bought our house in sealed bids, won it by a grand against 14 or 15 other bidders. Same thing, don’t use a round number

Reading that it sounds like they're alright, everyone who actually dealt with them after the auction didn't seem to have any issues. Does the shill bidding really matter that much other than suggesting that in truth there is a reserve?
Does sound like on collection they just want to get the cash in, so definitely worth trying to hunt for unlisted defects and get discount.

Hope so. My mate has a 997 C2S which is absolutely lovely, really nice condition. He does use it, but he gets stressed at the thought of too many miles harming its value, or getting more stone chips. I won't be worrying about that at all, I'll just be driving it (or fixing it

There's a lot to be said for that philosophy. Therein lies the problem with an evonomic purchase, break the bank buying it and then you don't always get the best out of it. I'm as guilty as anyone else of that.

Ebay have ramped up the price for reserve listings so that's probably one reason. My knee is finally better now, only took about 6 months
Duncs, it’s funny cos the flip side is I don’t get to sample other great cars like you, Matty etc do.

I just looked up the price of the bits and tools to DIY replace the IMS bearing. It's just over £1k. Or an indy specialist will do it with upgraded parts for just over £1k. Tough call...

Inspect it if/when the clutch requires changing, and remove the seal to allow more fresh oil through. But otherwise just leave it alone.

I wouldn't look for trouble. I'd get it cosmetically presentable, driving tight and service/maintain from there. They are hardy cars and keep well when used.

I thought Kin had got his RMSs and IMSs mixed up but he hadn't. I was wrong and deleted my post within about 30 seconds of posting it. Good work spotting it!
