Re: Grand Tour Series 3
It got pretty good in season 2, so far this season is lacking any originality and has just been boring.
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
I agree with Rich - season 2 was pretty good. This one isn't compelling but is better than season 1; at least it's watchable.

thats twice in one week. Either I’ve started talking sense or your standards are slipping...!
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
Blimey, I was on the phone as I typed that reply so maybe I wasn't concentrating.
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
And on the other occasion?
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
Pickups were a bit shit.
surprised to see that the merc bent its tail after carrying a few drums. should be well within the scope of a pickup to do that.
My mate recently changed back to a van after having a ford ranger. Found it fairly useless for what they do - suspended ceilings - the bed wasnt big enough to hold anything materials wise and even with a roller top leaked so you couldnt leave tools or kit in it. It did fit 4 FF wheels in it and tow the race box and their boat. That was however about the limit of it.

Re: Grand Tour Series 3
The script editor has got to stop JC continually repeating “let’s not get bogged down...” it wasn’t funny the first time.
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
Do you think it's time he tried to find a new joke? That seems like a reach.

Woah there! Let’s not get bogged down with Ooos joke is Ooos, but maybe just limit it to once per episode.JLv3.0 wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:28 am Do you think it's time he tried to find a new joke? That seems like a reach.
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
That seems far more realistic!
I shouldn't Clarkson-bash, really. Once upon a time it was his column in Performance Car that I would go to first when it dropped through the letterbox, and for a long time I thought he was very amusing.
It then hit me that he hadn't come up with anything new in about 20 years, and that rather than being funny, he's now just pandering to the lowest common denominator in terms of "shock" value and it all just seems a bit pathetic really.
I imagine he doesn't care what I think though.

Re: Grand Tour Series 3
I guess he’s getting paid well enough to do his job
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
I'd imagine any attempt to change would be jumped on by the powers-that-be anyway. Keep the proles happy.

Re: Grand Tour Series 3
It’s a shame because it almost makes it worse that we all know he could do so much better if he tried!
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
So much better in what sense? Heading the “most watched factual tv show”.....in the world?Rich B wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:06 pm It’s a shame because it almost makes it worse that we all know he could do so much better if he tried!
He seems to get fairly well paid
He’s widely respected by his peers
If you mean he could be more serious, he did some of those War documentaries. I didn’t watch them, but I believe they were well received?
Seems to be doing ok?
Or did you mean, if he tried hard he could make a TV show specifically for you and your tastes?
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
Well that escalated quickly.
Rich can answer for himself of course, but I imagine he's talking about he could be a bit less of a cock to get a guilty giggle out of the educationally resistant and actually act like an intelligent person.

Yep, they should carry on producing really poor episodes because they’re already loaded and no one should be allowed any opinion on this.
If they were a new trio on Discovery motors or something, they’d be cancelled after these first 3-4 shows.
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
I don't think we agreed per se - we just posted how much we'd paid for our Civic Type Rs all those years ago. So purely factual
Rich managed to be incorrect at first but he pulled it back.

Re: Grand Tour Series 3
it may be 3 times then! I thought there was in one in the Brexit thread?!
Re: Grand Tour Series 3
I think there’s a bit of a problem here which is what car enthusiasts want vs the general public. Obviously you want to target the major percentile group if you want anything to be successful which would be the general public - hence it has to be tailored to the type of people who would vote for Brexit
I jest, but you get the idea.
Also cars built for enthusiasts never do well financially do they? (Major supercar brands aside) We always bang on about what we want, some manufacturer eventually falls for it, and then it’s a sales flop

How about not having a sig at all?

I tend not to bother reading replies in thereRich B wrote: Wed Feb 06, 2019 12:48 pmit may be 3 times then! I thought there was in one in the Brexit thread?!
