Z4 2.5i would probably be a better choice than a ropey 2.5 Boxster I reckon but four seats requirement rules that out too.

They were all 2.7s.

Why 4 seats? 330Ci seems the only choice then.

Basic practicality. If my bros car shits itself I may need to get socket sets, axle stands, and other annoyingly bulky things in that would be 'ok' in a back seat, but highly impractical in a true two seater.

IE a few weeks ago, I had thirty grands worth of telecoms equipment strapped into the back of the Mondeo - couldn't do that with a Z4/Boxster, but a 330Ci (or even the Puma) would be fine as there's just more usable space.

I also regularly carry a few passengers around Leeds for the monthly works payday meal out - in return, I get 'no questions asked' supplies of tea and biscuits so I can live with that ;)

Stop buying cars based on other people’s expectations of how you should use them. HTH.

Hey. I like to help.

It would be quite nice to say 'fuck off I've only got two seats' though.

Z4 might be worth a look in that case.

Id have an S2000* over a Z4. Drove my mates 2.5 Z4 and it was nice. Which is not what i want from a sportscar. I want Angry and an event.

That said if you want it as a daily then it might fit the bill.

*based on never driving an S2000

350Z ?

I wouldn't buy one myself, obvs, but some people seem to like them.

IIRC Dan thought his S2000 was a bit dull, so it's probably pretty good fun for a normal person ;).

I'd still get an E36 or E46 with a decent engine over any of the suggested sports cars but I'm not that fussed about sports cars tbh.

Mate had a cheap one - it had rust issues. At under ten years old :o

S2000s are mostly out of budget.

Liking the z4 idea. Pretty much anything interesting, well known mechanically and fun to drive seems to be a BMW really...

Didn’t realise the Z4 had dropped so much in value. I remember reading the M had a weird handling characteristic where it didn’t feel planted at all and would try to spin you off the road when pushing on. Is the regular one set up better in that regard?
How about not having a sig at all?

In 2000, they became 2687cc. ie 2.7 . All the cars on AT in the price bracket were post-00. :ugeek:

Ian is correct.

And likely all of them have something painfully wrong with them at that price....

How about a LWB Transit in case someone you know needs to move house one day?

I had a z4 for a summer and although it was only the 2.2 it sounded nice (6 cyl) and certainly wasn't the snail people make them out to be. They often have electric roof motor problems though so if you do view one raise and lower the roof a few times.

If I can help, I will.

If I don't have a massive estate car, then tough.
