I’m assuming a TVR Chimera is out ?

Dave!
Definitely no TVR's, I want a proper car, i've already got a load of home made shit at work

I've never been a bmw man, i've always seen them as cars for other people that I like to look at but i've never got on with driving them. Other than an E30 M3 actually, which I really enjoyed, every other (later) bmw i've driven has felt very bland.
I guessed already but it’s always better to check 😂

You can get an EVO6 for that money, not tempted to drive like a rally twat? I drive a 5 and it was incredibly front end lead and you could probably drive pretty silly and sideways on the road if you wanted.

996 Carrera but I think the value in them isn’t there like it was 5 years ago. The modified one on Pistonheads show it’s a very race car serviced road car in how it’s built, a 3.4 lightened a bit would be a great everyday car.

(Edited to say ahh bollocks 😂)

Dave!

Yeah, one of those I reckon.

The 124 version hasn't been made for a few years and, of course, some parts are now hard to get despite most of it being MX5 underneath.
No problem at all.

The MX5 was about the only car that hit all of my criteria but for some reason they don't quite do it for me, based on having never driven one of course.

So I went and test drove a 124 with 13k on the clock, they left me on my own to go and try it, the TC turns off with a single button press and it goes sideways really easily at slow speed, so I bought it. We should get together and do a swap some time.

Definitely - I was still going to bring you my car to have a drive once spring appears (maybe not far away now...)

I believe Richard Major reached the same conclusion. memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=69

Just thought - Dan, is your purchase the Abarth? I think they come with the Recaros which are highly prized but rare in the MX5.

Meh, probably all stuff out of the Fiat parts bin with a different badge! :)

Congrats. Pics & e-start vid please.

Looks like many places offer 200bhp remaps for around £300.

Will do when I collect it next week.

Tempted by the remap although I’m always dubious of mapping via email.

A Turbot MX5 then

Better looking than the MX5 to my eyes, (sorry Jobbo) nice one 8-)

Solid choice, they sound great as standard, much better than a stock mx5, I think that the seats are also cooler, just edging it over the recaros.

Only downside is that I just dont think that a turbo in this car is quite right.

Ah yes, the seats have that funky retro look with the stitching. Be interesting to compare.

Someone on my street has one, the exhaust is obnoxious with the valves open. Just a wee note for if you like your neighbours

Nice alt choice. I guess in comparison to the Elise it feels like a 740.

I would obviously have recommended a Vantage, but you would want the 4.7 and that's probably not budget.

My neighbours are in for a treat because next month I’ll be taking the Elise home too 🤣
